Due to the recent upgrade of my wireless router (not sure I should address it as upgrade or downgrade)by the Internet Service Provider, the WiFi seems unstable and video streaming is quite lagging. Some dead zone in my house is not covered nor detectable.
I actually subscribed the monthly 50M/bps package, but the initial WiFi router (with 3 big Antennas) can only boost up to 30M/bps. After rounds of checking & investigation, the ISP suspect it was the router problem, as part of the package with the device is still under warranty, I have no choice but to accept another new router(without Athena) that caused the instability. Hmm…!!

To resolve on my current hiccups, I came accross Xiaomi Mi WiFi Amplifier 2, it support 2.4GHz Wireless with speed up to 300Mbps.
It has this function call WiFi roaming, basically you can use the same name as the superior router to achieve WiFi roaming.

My humble and in depth review of Xiaomi Mi WiFi Amplifier 2

To my 2cents, Products from Xiaomi is always reliable and this device is only costing about USD10. Worth to give it a try if you encounter poor WiFi signal.

I bought it from Gearbest, price stated including shipping.

did you test in a 3 storey house? thinking of this can covers or not with just 1 of it
*
I don't have the luxury to stay in a 3 storey house. biggrin.gif
My 2cents... either you get a very strong and powerful router that covers a 3 storey house, OR setup each floor with an amplifier2.

Plug and play. Of course you need to install Mi apps into your phone for the configuration.

Damned.. this looks very tempting for my 2.5 storey crib
*
1 is not enough for your 2.5 storey, 2~3 would be sedap but of course your wifi speed must be good enough as well.

Is this with Antena any better?

This Xiaomi Pro is slightly better but nothing much differences.

1. It does not support 5GHz Wifi , same goes to Amp2
2. The Pro is capable of automatic updates, without the need of the app whereby you have to do manual updates for Amplifier 2.
3. It can connect up to 64 devices at a time, whereby Amplifier 2 can only connect only up from the 16 devices. but, Xiaomi only recommends connecting up to 24 devices.( do you think you hv so many devices to connect at a time ?
