Hi guys,

Need some help, just wondering whether any of you received this sudden notice of account closure from Luno.

Thing is, I didnt receive the email on 15th Jan as they claimed. My last transaction was in May 2024, after which just monitor pricing only on daily basis. I have never also transferred any amount from external account, purely via FPX transfer i.e. Malaysia Banks.

Luckily this email came when the holding is positive, imagine having RED position. But I just wonder really, why they suddenly cut me off for no reason, and very short notice as well. Today notice for deadline on 22nd Jan 2025.

Any advise on how I could still retain my LUNO account - should I write to SC for support.

Are you one of those persons on Luno fb group who got this notification of closure email?

Seems like the number of people getting this email is increasing.

Have you done the eKYC previously?

Well, the exact same thing happened to me where I received an email on something I was supposed to receive on 15th Jan (which I didn't). I wrote in to ask for a reason why they closed my account and they gave me some generic BS answer about me either breaching or likely breaching T&C's while providing no explanation or evidence to support their claims. It seems they are not even clear themselves on the reason for closure.

The current conclusion in the luno fb group regarding this issue that I’d gather, it could be because:
1. AMLA related, or
2. Previously you transferred your coins from an oversea exchange/ wallet. Two cases I read from the comments saying they transferred their coins from bitx, which they had since 2013, to luno. That transaction got flagged as suspicious.

They should remove the receive function on their app then if they do not allow their customers to transfer coins in from other exchanges or wallets.

There’s actually no issue for transferring or receiving coins iinm.

The issue is about the ability to proof that the source of their coins (bitx) came from legitimate sources.
