Last month, January, I used my CIMB account for the first time to buy crypto on Luno via FPX.
Today I got a call from CIMB saying they got something to tell me and to verify my identity by saying the last 4 digits of my IC to them. I refused because these days so many scam calls. They say that's fine, but I need to call their official call center for details.
So I called CIMB's official call center and asked if anything wrong. They said I need to update my networth and income/job with them. I thought no big deal, so I just told them.
But for the past 18 years I've had my account with them, they never ever asked me to do that. I wonder if it was triggered by my FPX transaction with Luno?

QUOTE(Medufsaid @ Feb 10 2025, 06:11 PM) when you opened your CIMB bank acct, did they ask for employment letter? In 2006-2007, yes. When first time opened I gave those details. But I haven't been asked to give the details since then. Just hope it's a coincidence that they need to update my employment information and not because I used them to buy Luno crypto. Edit: In contrast my Maybank account has more Luno transactions since 2017 but Maybank has never contacted me about my job. This post has been edited by Amaru: Feb 10 2025, 06:15 PM

QUOTE(colmi @ Feb 10 2025, 06:28 PM) I regularly transfer small and big amounts from my Maybank account to Luno. Maybank never called me up to ask this and that. Same. Maybank never asked me either. Only happened with CIMB so far.
