What router did they give you? Tplink Archer C5?
*
TP-link archer c5 is the best stock wifi router that TM supplies.

For me I guess I'm just out of luck. There is few forumer also complain about c5.

For my case my c5 is not stable after few minutes usage, flashed latest firmware, hard reset etc no solution, suspect SoC chip on pppoe got issue. My contract also ended so I don't wish to pay nor extend contract.

Then I test c5 act as access point there is no issue, then I ended up use c5 as access point.
*
for my totally no problem. two C5, one at my own house, one at my parent one.

both are running default firmware that comes with it. Never flash any firmware etc. Performance is consistent and super stable. no issues at all.

Firmware Version:
3.17.1 Build 20160317 Rel. 4317
Hardware Version:
ArcherC5 v2

sorry to disappoint you but tm is that stupid. just because the DP is in front of your house does not mean a port is reserved for you.

tm will assign ports on a first come first serve basis, even if the house is further away from the DP. as long as they can connect to the DP they will use up the ports there.

like i told you before, my situation was the same like you. the DP in my area is also near to my house but all the ports are taken up already. so when there was a free port, tm installer did not use the dp near to my house because it was already full but used another DP that is a bit further away to install my unifi
*
yup, each DP is designated for certain block of houses at one area, they dun pull cables from other DP to one's house if the DP is not designated for it.

so sign unifi as soon as there is port available is the only way to go.

keeping the copper wire telephone is a better option at rm1/month especially if ur unifi fixed line no does not come with any free calls.

copper wire does not require modem to be on to use and it is easier option to be used with home alarm since it does not required external power.

You could check:

Replace the Xs in this link https://www.shodan.io/host/xxxxxx with your public IP address. A result of "Not Found" is best. If anything is listed as open, I wouldn't worry about it if you have disabled remote management.
*
For those who are using TP-link wifi routers by TM, are you guys disabling the remote management.

I enabled it because I can remotely troubleshoot for my parents if required.

Guys im Currently on VIP10 - 10mbps Rm149 per month contract expired if i cancel my current plan and subscribe Unifi Lite Rm129 any charges for the new installation? or they will using the old fiber connection?
*
It is better to keep your existing plan. The upload speed of extra 5Mbps is useful, and the unlimited tm to tm calls also very good for parents who are likely to make calls.

I have it enabled but I have changed the default username, default password, and port. It might not be a security measure but it is definitely something at least. If you want to enable it, make sure to do as I mentioned above.
*
yes, I did them except the port no.

what kind of speed is your unifi?

--------------------------------------------

for the past few days I am sure there was problem with the unifi. occasionally disconnections when browsing the web etc, slow http download.

only till yesterday it was back to normal.

installed mine on Mac this year 30mb RM179 then Free Upgrade program 50mb got on Jun and now 100mb (call TM100 this morning and be told to wait for 7days for upgrade to be done)
*
Same for me. I also got the unifi last year dec 30Mbps RM179 and upgraded to 50Mbps.

So I can call tm to get the 100Mbps with just rm10 extra per month? Is this price permanent?
