Hi. I have a few questions.
1. Is torrent download for movies restricted in Malaysia?
2. Does Unifi throttle your downloading speed?
3. Anyone using VPN?

QUOTE(skywardsword @ Oct 3 2017, 06:47 AM) I use it as access point. So you aren't linking these 2 routers up via wireless?Disable dhcp. Connect LAN to LAN port. Oh and I set up the ssid to be different from the main router.(different floors of the house) The problem with this is. Your phone might not connect to the strongest signal. So manually toggle connect. Other ap solution can setup the host to disconnect clients if the signal drops below a level. |

QUOTE(skywardsword @ Oct 3 2017, 11:52 PM) Wireless is too lousy a connection. Definitely worth it to run cables for access point. May be I said wrongly. Main router is on 1st floor. My intention is to use an old router on the 2nd floor floor to boost the wifi coming from the main router located downstairs. Now sure what you call that, access point or repeater?Wireless signal don't cut thru brick and concrete that well. 2.4ghz still can pass thru ~4 walls. 5ghz is not capable of passing thru any wall... |

QUOTE(prokiller1199 @ Oct 4 2017, 03:18 AM) Since C7 dont have build in repeater/range extender mode, you will need LAN cable access from ur 1st floor to ur 2nd floor and use the instruction by skywardsword to set up the 2nd router. Since access point is the most stable options. Otherwise, spend more money on repeater/homeplug/powerline. You can have that connect ur C7 wirelessly. Sorry for not making myself clear.I have a higher end router set as the main router for Unifi. And want to use the old TP Link Archer C5 as a secondary unit to extend my wifi to the other floor. Possible? Thanks |

Hi. I got a question regarding testing download speed.
One server nearer to my location give me ping of ~70 but download speed of ~25 mbps Another server further away from me give me ping of ~90 but download speed of ~50 mpbs. So which is consider better for me? Thanks |

Hi. I have Unifi and I can get 50 mbps easy. With a VPN set on router AC68U, the best I got was 18 mpbs, a 65% reduction in speed. What are you people getting?

QUOTE(NyOx @ Oct 12 2017, 01:10 AM) I have played around the setting like location etc with my VPN. And the best download I could get was 18 mbps on an Unifi 50 mbps line. On AES-256. Set on Asus AC68U router.I am just wondering what others are getting or to be more correct, how much % reduction in speed with their vpn. |

QUOTE(Icehart @ Oct 12 2017, 05:54 AM) Your best choice is Singapore server. Malaysia server generally has low bandwidth due to the pricing of bandwidth here. You are absolutely correct. Singapore's server gives best result but it can't be used for P2P. Which Asian country server you think is as good or better than Singapore's? Vietnam? Thailand? Or which vpn would you recommend? QUOTE(Icehart @ Oct 12 2017, 06:04 AM) I have experiment with many providers but my best is still IPVanish. However none of the VPN can beat full speed of UniFi P2P. I do realize speed will take a hit with router vpn but a 65% hit?You can try Hong Kong too. They allow P2P and the speed is more or less the same as Singapore's. On vpnarea, Hong Kong/Korea/Japan speed is not good bad. May be I will check out IPVanish. Which IPVanish server? Thanks This post has been edited by touristking: Oct 12 2017, 01:12 PM |

QUOTE(Icehart @ Oct 12 2017, 06:14 AM) IPVanish I always toy around HK and Singapore server. may i ask, what speed are you getting, with and without vpn? Desktop or router? What encryption? When comes to VPN the limiting factor is not your download speed, but rather the server's performance, maintenance and their network speed. If you want the best you should consider setting up over Linode as their upload speed is 1GB/s. |

Even though my speed is 50 Mpbs, it sure doesn't looks like it's 50 times faster than my old Streamyx. In fact, I would say it's probably just a 5 times faster. So is Unifi all shows and no substance?

QUOTE(VeeJay @ Nov 11 2017, 07:12 PM) obviously...I think you misunderstood bandwidth vs latency. What you have increased is bandwidth. Surely bandwidth and latency go hand in hand to certain extend to provide better performance, just by increasing BW by X10, does mean you speed goes up by 10X. I am just a layman. In simple analogy, imagine bandwidth is the number of the lane in a highway, if you car can only accelerate to 10kmh, by increasing another 10 lanes, is not gonna make your car go faster. But i have noticed, sometime, Digi LTE is as fast as my Unifi 50Mpbs when surfing. |

QUOTE(LostAndFound @ Nov 11 2017, 11:50 PM) My 30Mbps update took hold yesterday night di. Good and solid, and fortunately no 90% club membership =p ic. thanksIn ideal connection scenario LTE is faster than 50Mbps. But what he was saying is quite simple. 50MBps is not 'speed' in terms of how fast you're going, it's 'speed' in terms of how much you can get at a time. Webpages aren't normally very big data wise, so the 'fast' you're thinking about is mostly latency. How long it takes to respond. That one won't change much between a good 1Mbps streamyx connection and a 50Mbps unifi connection. His analogy of car on highway is accurate. If you have more lanes then your downloads will get faster (can use multiple trucks at the same time) but the speed of your individual car won't change much. |

QUOTE(MrSpeedy @ Nov 13 2017, 11:06 AM) Couldn't agree more. 50Mpbs. Kodi.. lagging, hanging. all sorts. I am sure Unifi throttle the speed. After >10 years suffering with Streamyx, Unifi is like day and night. My game never lag even when my family streaming Youtube or playing online games simultaneously. Dat 5Mbps upload (I'm on Unifi Lite BTW) releases me from the greatest bottleneck that slows down my internet experiences especially when many people browsing internet at the same time. Seriously, just migrate to Unifi especially with this Bonanza promo. |
