The current RM129 is for 10M. The promo RM99 is also for 10M but limited to 2 years.

Maybe the current RM129 will be upgraded to 20M over the next year. So there will be a difference already. In 2 years, the RM99 will go back to RM129 and may also be at 20M at that time. Because they said that eventually over the next 1-2 years, the average speed should be 20M.

This is similar to the 30M to 50M upgrade earlier this year. I think eventually all 30M will be upgraded to 50M over the next 1-2 years. If not the price of RM179 package and RM129 package has too little difference. They also need to adjust prices if there is new 200M and 500M packages later.

So I think over the next 1-2 years, it wil be something like 20M, 50M, 100M, 200M, 500M packages.

Customer service said it is for selected areas. Promo by agents for selected users. Maybe available at promotional events / fairs. Who knows what the selection criteria is...

I think it was an internal thing for now. Must have "leaked" accidentally or purposely. I think maybe its promo to get Streamyx users who haven't switched.

I still think current RM179 30M (those without thank you surprise) may get upgraded to 50M in a matter of time. Or at least will get offered 50M for extra RM10. This will be inline with the Bonanza RM189 50M offering.

The Bonanza RM139 30M is a way to get users to subscribe to higher RM package. Those considering RM129 10M may be attracted to it. Streamyx users may be attracted to it. Again, it is probably a matter of time that current RM129 10M may be upgraded to 30M by paying extra RM10 offer.

Remember this offer is for 2 years, then back to normal price. Yes, probably by then there will be new packages and prices. But for now, it is like getting a user to go from RM129 to RM139 to RM199 in a 2 year period. If prices are to be reduced in 2 years, they must get users to subsribe to higher RM packages now or else it will be a loss in revenue for them. Also in 2 years there may be other competition so to capture users now with a contract is important.

It does seem that RM179 is their target price for a user. And its 50M for that price eventually. The Boananza RM189 50M is similar to last years RM179 30M to 50M offer.

Why is the RM129 listed as its not really a Bonanza offer as it was already launched previously? Well, it is shown so that most users will take the RM139 instead of RM129 now that the difference is RM10 for 30M instead of 10M. These users will be then subject to the higher RM199 price in 2 years.

I am guessing it is likely that RM129 10M will be offered at RM99 maybe after this Bonanza offer is over. We already heard about RM99 but so far it has been said that it has been delayed / postponed. We have not heard that it has been dropped / cancelled. So maybe it will re-appear. It cannot appear in Boananza offer as that may not attract users to RM139.

Also, it does not make sense to have RM129 10M and RM139 30M, such a small difference in RM. And the 8M Streamyx offer is at RM89. So RM99 for 10M is more a fitting package.

I also guess that these price adjustments are needed if higher 200M / 500M packages are to be launched. Who knows, after end of this year, the Bonanza offer may be extended again or after some time the normal prices will be adjusted to be similar to the Boananza prices.

Yours is previous VIP5 upgraded free to 10M? Doesn't that include free calls? If so, not right to compare as RM139 does not have free calls. Of course higher speed is there.

Everyone should decide on their own which is best for them based on what speed they need or how much they willing to pay, their usage rquirements etc etc.

Generally we don't know what they are up to until a few months or a year later when we see new offers or price changes etc. I was just guessing on this.

If you're not under contract and you try to switch, let us know the result. Users think of going from 10M to 30M as upgrade in speed at less price. TM sees it as downgrade as they go by the price factor. That's why under contract they don't let you do it without penalty.

Can someone who has gone from a higher priced package to a lower one after contract ended tell whether it was just adjustment done at the account level or do yu actually have to terminate one service and subscribe to the other one? This is not during any offer times. Just normal package switching.

Apart from that, they have to do the Streamyx offer due to the Unifi offer. Streamyx was at RM110 / 120 / 130 / 140. Does not make sense for Unifi prices to be close or lower than that.

Also not all areas have 8M ports. Chances are that those who used to have 4M would have already gone to 8M previously especially since the price difference was RM10. They have also been offering Streamyx users so called double speed for extra RM10, ie 1M to 2M, 2M to 4M and 4M to 8M where available. Some 4M users said they got free upgrade to 8M but I think that was because they were already paying RM140 previously which was the 8M price anyway.

I think we are beginning to see what the future Streamyx and Unifi prices are going to be in a year or so. Somehow I don't see anymore half-price coming up later on. They will say they have already been lowering the price or if you have already got an offer before, you won't be entitled to it or something like that. Take Streamyx 8M which used to be RM160. Now RM89 is pretty much half priced. Take old VIP10 which used to be RM199. Maybe 10M will be at RM99 soon which is pretty much half priced.

You should check with TM and let us know the answer. Because sometimes we get different answers.

I was told that if under contract you cannot get it. As in my earlier post, because TM sees you paying less money as a downgrade so you will have contract penalty fee. Even if you want to go from 4M to 8M also cannot because package price is lower.

Please check on this and re-confirm.

Was your RM149 still under contract or over already? That had voice calls, RM139 does not. I thought some say cannot switch to lower package price.

Know the reason? Last time RM99 called off supposedly because complaints from RM129. I think similarly Streamyx especially newly subscribed at higher prices must be complaining. Also from Streamyx old users who still paying higher prices all this while. They never got double the speed as Unifi. And now they want to reduce price but only for new users.

I wonder if the Unifi RM139 will also be affected after complaints from existing 30M users paying higher prices. They should just do upgrade or lower prices for existing users. Then also have the new packages for new users so everything is fair. Don't know why they have to do complicated things like this.

Any reason given? I wonder if MCMC got complaints from existin gusers. Or they suddenly realised that instead of getting new customers with the promo, it was existing customers paying higher now who are switching to the new promo price. So it means less money for them.

It means that the discount stated there is valid as long as you keep subscribing to that package, ie during the 2 year contract and even after that the discount will still be there. Unlike the current Bonanza package which clearly states the discount is only for the 2 year contract period and after that the discount will be removed.

It seems good for now. Problem comes if there is some better package later on which yu may want to get. Then they will say the discount no longer applies. Who knows what they are up to and what they will do. Just look at the recent promos which they bring out and then pull back in a few days.

We can only guess what they are up to... I think its clear from this Bonanza and RM10 upgrade promo that they are pushing users to get higher priced packages. Forget about the speed. They want the higher RM. They get millions extra every month even if half Unifi users upgrade with RM10. I think a lot of users probably don't need the extra speed, but will get it anyway since its only RM10. No harm if yu can afford it. That's what they count on.

There must be something coming up next year. It could be price adjustment to cater for new 200/500M packages.

I wonder if TM brought out this Boananza promo because Maxis was going to come out with their promo. Or if Maxis responded to TM promo. Seems quite similar in price.

Time package prices has been around for some time. I don't think that's the reason TM has this promo. Also isn't Time coverage quite restricted? Unless they are planning to expand coverage to landed residential, cannot be because of that. Could there be a new player coming in soon?

Some users initially on RM179 30M got the TQ surprise to 50M and now with RM10 get 100M. Or users going from 10M to 30M to 50M. That is double speed then double speed again. I thought there was only double speed followed by half price later on? Unless... some users have said RM189 is after RM200 discount. This means actual price is RM389. So you're pretty much paying half price already.

Maybe TM will show this as they are already giving half price. Cannot put it past them. Remember few years ago they were told to reduce Streamyx prices. What did they do? They made a new 1M package for RM38 and said that was it. Except it had 1GB data quota per month. Unless you're a very light user, it was of not much use. Other Streamyx package prices remained the same till now.

I wonder if Unifi Lite 10M will be priced at RM99 after this. Since for RM10 more existing and new Lite users would consider 30M instead. So the RM129 10M seems out of place for now. Maxis 10M is RM119 with voice calls. I think there is also a RM20 discount with referal, so thats RM99.

Its hard to imagine there will be half price in the next year or so. I hope there is, but... how many of us can imagine RM189 for 100M now will be around RM95 in a year or so? And will RM139 30M be RM70? Unless there will be new packages and new lower prices which is why they are pushing to get the Bonanza with the 2 year contract first.

First time I think they got promo that specifically says prices for 2 years only. I agree you can always terminate and re-apply. Especially if phone number is not important. Only problem then will be the port availability. Not sure why their procedure is like that, must terminate first rather than just modifying account details in the system. Also never know if they come up with some new procedure like once you terminate you have to wait 1 month to re-apply. So that users get stuck. Who knows what they may do...

Yes, no crystal ball... But you can sort of see what they are doing.

Take example of RM179 30M before. They upgrade to 50M. Then later new users pay RM189 for 50M as Bonanza promo. Then old RM179 50M offered 100M for extra RM10. Even that is already unfair with same price different packages. Who knows, next year they will offer the RM189 50M new users 100M also for extra RM10. End result is they keep stepping up the price they get from users and extend contract.

This is one of the things to consider about what to do after the 2 year contract. Its easy to say terminate and get a better package, but they can just say there is no ports and you get stuck. Also in 2 years time, it is likely that most areas will have more subscribers and thus most ports will be taken.

Given how users are willing to terminate and re-apply when promos such as the recent Boananza packages came out, I will not be surprised if TM puts in a condition that you have to wait for a period of say 1 month before re-applying. Just to prevent users from terminating. I think that is one of the reasons why they pulled back Streamyx boananza and the RM99 Lite packages. Because they realised that users were willing to terminate their higher priced packages to get the lower prices. Their

But lots could happen in the 2 years. Maybe more users will be on mobile data. Maybe TM will just keep giving RM10 promos so users won't have to terminate.

This shows the internet is actually RM169. But you get a RM60 discount. So its RM109.
The HyppTV costs RM30. So total is RM109 + RM30 = RM139.

This is the reason why they say for 24 months only. Because the RM60 discount will be there only for the 2 years. When they remove that discount, the bill will go back to RM169 + RM30 = RM199 after the 2 years.

The RM199 is the price as it stands now. In 2 years, it will probably not be the same. Or you have choice to change package or terminate or go to another provider etc after the 2 year contract.

So your RM149 had free calls. Now RM159 does not have. So if you had terminated and get the normal Bonanza RM139 30M package also without free calls would be cheaper? Is the Jumbo pack the only difference? Can say you paying extra RM20 for it. They got so many different combinations....

Can you tell what was your original package when you subscribed to Unifi? And what was your brother's package? Did yu both subscribe around the same time? Have you upgraded the original package before? Has your brother upgraded?

Maybe if you compare them, there might be a reason how they select.

The voice plan gives free 600 minutes of national calls per month. This includes to fixed lines and to mobiles.

After the 600 minutes, calls to TM fixed lines is still free but other calls to others are charged at 10 sen/min.

It is not 600 mins to mobiles every month.

Yes, its per month. Just that toffy 's post above seemed to me like saying it is 600 minutes free to mobile every month. Which it is not. Unless I misunderstood that post.
