Hi all,

How do you guys negotiate with TM regarding current offer?

I can't seems to find any official brochure or a prove to convince them that I am paying more than many other subscribers.

Currently paying 179.00 (bill amount 187.75) for 30Mbps plan and HyppTV Ruby pack only.
I have the DECT phone, but no free call.

What if I go to TM Point and the they challenge me back by asking...
"where got cheaper offer?"
"where got Jumbo pack?"
"where got free calls?"
"who told you all these?"

Because I stay in a condo, does that mean 30Mbps is the max. I can get?
If speed upgrade is impossible for me, what else can I ask for?

Thank you all in advanced.  notworthy.gif
*
To nego, you can go to another TM Point or call 100 to scream politely at em.. As for max speed? I'm in the same boat, they say I can't get more than 30Mbps cuz high floor bla blah.. Been bugging them to come upgrade the infra and for now offer the cheaper price of 139 for 30Mbps pending hardware upgrade (if ever).. Looks like mostly in this thread, those who get 100Mbps are landed props.. Anyone getting 100Mbps in a condo? Pls confirm.. Thanks.

QUOTE(Ben Ling @ Dec 21 2017, 03:21 PM)
alright after 30min it went up to 11MBps, yes it's MBps

but of course it went down to around 9MBps and maintain
[attachmentid=9444767]
*
It's p2p connections, not direct downloads from a fast server.. Speeds go up and down cuz that's how p2p works.. That's normal.. Client is gathering pieces from all over.. So just let it be.. it'll be done when it is.

QUOTE(raemon @ Dec 21 2017, 04:06 PM)
I'm curious. If we request for our password, TM will have to do a reset and issue a new one. Where do we enter the new password? Router? How does the BTU get connected?

Hi All, good news for those using the Junk TP-Link C1200 UK V1 router, you can go to TP-Link Australia page, look for this firmware
Archer C1200(EU)_V1_170616
Published Date: 2017-06-16
It works and stable. Previously i tried the UK latest firmware, HyppTV not working, now i use this firmware, just select Bolehland-Unifi, put in username and password.

So far so good.
*
Yeah, been on it awhile now. So far so good and no free advert for TM using my SSID. mad.gif Flashing the AUS firmware changes the Hypptv port from LAN 4 to 1.. So you can either leave config as is and plug the STB into the LAN port 1 or you reconfigure the LAN port 4 for Hypptv..

QUOTE(Ben Ling @ Dec 21 2017, 05:19 PM)
what about the 0706 one ?
*
I'm on it... Works fine for me.. Normal CPU load and low memory usage.. Though about once per week or so, the router randomly reboots itself.

Yes still VIP10 RM149, Tmnet didn't offer me nice package. Haizzz.

Gotta try Maxis for 30 days. If really unusable gotta stick back with Tmnet.
*
Maxis is using TM's infra... I haven't used em before but based on my readings.. if any issues, you have to wait double time cuz call Maxis --- Maxis calls TM and return.. versus, just call TM and get resolution.

I had forgotten how useless TM has been...been waiting for them for 5 days to repair my line. In the end I fixed it myself =.=

I better go to TM Point one day and see what I will get.
Thank you for sharing your experience.  thumbsup.gif

Not going to be easy.. It's alright to lose your cool occasionally. Just don't end up on YouTube or in the papers. laugh.gif Remember that the fellas at the desk are just frontline staff, there are bosses behind.. Need to make your case climb up the chain to the guys who'll okay what you want.. Be gentle and savage at the same time.. TM has many other waterfishes in the market to cover the funds they "lose" from you. nod.gif

Mine works alright for my needs so far and covers the whole apartment.. Not sure if it'll perform the same with 100Mbps.

Alright, thats gud 2 know.

Your story in a nutshell, if i hv read correctly...

.. 2.5s hse, 4000 sqft.... big.
.. 2.4ghz or 5ghz.
.. wifi or ethernet.
.. tm supplied router, no change.
.. can get full 100mbps except one ipad.
.. by changing tx power from 100% to 50%.

Is that about right?

I will be trying my case next week, see what happens.

Really, with so many struggling to get full speed, so many reasons given why cannot, solutions will be welcome.

Perhaps, someone with good experience can start a new thread...

"How to get full 100mbps ethernet or wifi, 2.4ghz or 5ghz - various scenarios".

If not, all the impt tips get drowned ih this 300 page thread, people keep asking the same questions!! biggrin.gif
*
Running latest Aus firmware for C1200 V1. It all really depends on your own network and surroundings. Take mine for instance, Using the TM supplied C1200 in a condo with multiple other SSIDs and other interference (Testing done on computer, same room.. router about 5 feet away) .. Most say it's a crap router.. True, but it handles my needs well. So well, that unlike with the previous D-Link router, I no longer seriously consider getting a third-party router. Some say disable NAT and or NAT Boost. I tried disabling both and rebooted, everything looks good but none of the browsers can connect to the internet. Tested on PC and mobiles.. Couldn't. I then re-enabled NAT alone. Didn't need to reboot, suddenly can connect to the internet but lost my ipv6. Will leave as is (NAT Boost disabled & transmit power changed from High to medium), to see if by tomorrow's end, all will be okay or I'll have to revert to settings that were confirmed working.

So yeah, really depends on one's network environment.

I thought link speed changes based on WiFi strength?
Currently in my room at 114Mbps for 2.4 and 130Mbps for 5. Stood near to router 866Mbps for 5 and 144Mbps for 2.4.
*
Correct. The link speed is the data transfer rate between WiFi connected devices and the WiFi router itself.

Unifi website.

QUOTE(waisang @ Dec 25 2017, 07:20 AM)
How would be the billing when you have terminated the Unifi Service (no contract) for the very last month? is it prorated or full charges billing?
*
hmm.gif .. Thing is, TM charges a month ahead for Unifi. Last time I terminated, bill was fully paid up and I’m fairly certain I wasn’t given a refund. Neither was a prorated bill given cuz well, they didn’t know I’d be terminating. Could also be that I actually timed the termination and reapplication dates.. Can’t remember now. Don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone who terminated or upgraded to a more expensive plan and got a partial refund on what was paid before. So AFAIK, the full amount is charged and needs to be cleared in order to terminate.

Upgraded to 100mbps with the Bonanza promotion, that time the TM girl told me is RM239.

But now I got the bill and kena charge RM289:
UniFi Pro 16/12/2017-15/01/2018 299.00-90.00 = RM209.00
HyppTV Jumbo Lite Pack RM30
HyppTV Ruby Pack (Promo) RM30
Voice STD 20 Monthly Fee RM20

Can I complain to them that the price that the TM Point told me is different from my bill?

Or this is the normal price everyone get with the 100mbps bonanza promo?
*
If I... I wouldn't even concern myself with 239 when many are paying 189. Better go fight for RM189 and have them change to full Jumbo pack.

Yes, it's for 100Mbps plan with Jumbo and free calls. Info is all in this thread.. Read thru the last couple pages to get an idea. Go further for more information.

if new customer, the best offer for 100mbps is RM239?

i heard RM189 @ 100mbps for old customer only.
*
For new customers...Yeah, it's either 239 or 259... Depending on the TM Point or agent, because for now, such plans are not officially available. 189 is indeed for existing. Pizza0502 mentioned that his was an upgrade, so I'm assuming that he's an existing customer.

I want to know what's the use of credit limit? Does it mean i can only owe unifi up to the credit limit amount?
*
Yes.. Same as a credit card limit. Once you hit (or just before) your TM bill limit, they'll suspend the connection pending bill settlement. Which last time has a RM10 reconnecting fee. Probably still in place today.

Bill history still shows last month bill dated 11Nov as the lastest downloadable bill. The up-to-date amount has changed from the last bill's amount.
Call 100 n was told latest bill will be available within a week but now already 11 days. How inefficient, n want us to pay ahead and promptly.
*
Yep, and when we don't as in case like yours.. "Their system" can decide to simply disconnect the service. I think their billing software system is struggling to handle the creative billing and accounting mess they've created. Promo this, discount that, perpetual this, add and remove that... rclxub.gif.

QUOTE(sengasdf @ Dec 26 2017, 11:14 AM)
Anyone aware that for Unifi, the bill is advance payment basis? Where you pay on start date cycle, and not the usual end date cycle??

Attached is the T&C
[attachmentid=9454808]
*
Unifi bills AFAIK has always been advance payment. When I signed up, got charged for the current month and the next month which include the next billing cycle. After that, it's always advance payment. For instance, from 13/12/2017 to 12/01/2018. Payment due date is 03/01/2018.

somehow, TM unifi does not want a full transparent n fair pricing policy, wants to milk customers whenever they have a chance.

i am curious if there is ONE other co. in this country that does biz that way.

and i am also curious why no consumer assoc has ever made noise about it.

Consumer assoc is part of the government.
And TM is also part of semi government (with semi private company).

When you make noise to consumer assoc, I guess it won't work.

Consumer assoc (part of government) + TM (semi government) = Your complain will ignore frm consumer assoc

Consumer assoc (part of govern) + maxis (purely private company) = Your complain successful submit to consumer assoc for further investigate.

Fair usage policy? In shortcut, so called "fair to company only bt not to consumers".

QUOTE(aneip @ Dec 28 2017, 07:01 AM)
The problem is TM try to maximize the profit. Instead of KISS, they play around the discount and promotion until everybody loss track. So many pricing and discount for same package. Instead of changing their package like RM189 for 100Mbps.. They maintain it for RM329 and introduce multiple type of discount with multiple amount for each type of user (based on their history).. This is hell for everyone to keep track.

This bring trouble to Billing system. Billing system is complex product. Especially when you have spaghetti type of product. Each item will have rules and consequences. This will not visible to support user. They just pick discount/product and put into user account. Instead of pick 100Mbps upgrade.. They need to pick 100Mbps product, RM150 discount, RM 50 Discount.. All this also depend on current user package.. End of the months, when billing is generated.. Then only can know got problem or not.

Long story to type, but the conclusion is.. As long as they maintain this type of product most of their support staff and billing department will be screw up.. and User will banging their desk for answer.

Broadnet’s moves raise concern with TM, TNB

https://www.thestar.com.my/business/busines...-raise-concern/

PETALING JAYA: The aggressive moves by Broadnet Network Sdn Bhd, the company selected by the Government to undertake the Nationwide Fiberisation Plan (NFP), have raised concerns on government-linked companies (GLCs), namely Telekom Malaysia Bhd  ™ and Tenaga Nasional Bhd  (TNB).

According to sources, both the GLCs are seeking more information from the Government before they engage with Broadnet.

“For starters, TNB wants to know for sure if the Government has a golden share in Broadnet and if they are compelled to collaborate with the company,” said the sources.

As for TM, it was learnt that top officials of the dominant provider of high-speed broadband have sought meetings with the Finance Ministry on the matter.

At the moment, TM’s mainstay is providing broadband connectivity. Towards this end, it has undertaken the High Speed Broadband (HSBB) project for several years and continued to roll out broadband connectivity.

“In some ways, Broadnet would be a competitor to TM. So it is only natural for the company to seek clarification as TM itself is indirectly owned by the Government through Khazanah Nasional Bhd,” said a source.
*
Was listening to this topic being deliberated on BFM station.. Basically, Monopoly is being threatened and playing government card in order to slow or stop Broadnet..

If your place can get 100Mbps? To me not worth cuz you can counter by asking for that at RM189 instead. I would rather keep paying the same amount for double speeds than saving RM10.

True.. No matter which way the wind blows, the government never loses. But at least, let end users be happy with services at fair pricing.

QUOTE(JuneResources @ Dec 28 2017, 10:19 AM)
Can I say so Broadnet will direct competitor to TM in the future?
This is the reason if your company become monopoly, then you not need to scare that you will lost the profit.
No matter how suck or how good the service it is, you still gain profit one.

The monopoly licence should be banned nowadays including internet service provider, cable TV.
Even if electric and water service provider also banned for the monopoly licence, then that is the peace of world already.. (Which is dreaming only..) doh.gif

I agree.. As you say, we can only dream and hope it becomes a favorable reality.

From day one, TM hinted at capping speeds.. So far, still unlimited and we pray it stays that way.. 60GB limit per month is absurd in this day and age of fast high res media consumption and gaming.

Cannot.. Why would they want to come back at another date just for that.. You think they so free is it.. Later ask you to pay additional charges, you don't want.. how to run biz like this.. Call em up or direct march to TM HQ and flip table.. I was at a TM Point earlier today to again politely argue and complain at their incompetence levels to handle what should be a simple task. TM HQ already agreed to lower my monthly price and toss in Jumbo + free calls.. In fact, discount already applied and Jumbo given, but then after I left, staff screwed up the order.. Don't know what they clicking behind that desk. Jumbo got taken away and no free calls given.. So must make another high-level report in person..
