Yup, this is true. In fact, the new Iriz lost out alot compared to the persona. Especially at the highest spec you only get semi-leather seats.

For me what i feel is really necessary to add to the Persona is:
1. Decent armrest
2. Map Lights
3. Rear seat headrests
4. Auto-up driver's window

Other than that, dare i say the Persona is probably the best B-segment out there and i'm not saying that just for the price point, it is smartly designed. Take for example:

1. You auto-fold your mirrors, they auto-unfold as your speed builds up past 20kmh. Freaking smart.
2. Your passenger unlocks one door (by pulling the door handle once to unlock, again to open), and after they alighted, your car auto-locks itself after you speed past 20kmh. Freaking smart.
3. You pull your wiper stalk to spray wiper wash on your windscreen, and your wiper wipes twice. Few seconds later, it auto-wipes again another time just to be sure it's clean. Freaking smart.
4. You put your wiper speed at the highest (fastest) setting, and as you slow to a stop at the traffic light, instead of letting your fast moving wipers annoy you, your wiper automatically adjusts its speed to slow down. Once you speed back up, it wipes fast again. Freaking smart.
5. You left your key in the boot after you close your boot. Your car honks. Freaking smart.

These are just a few examples, and mine is a Premium btw. For these examples, Proton could've just used a much simpler system instead of smartly designing it to suit users better. At this price-point and segment, such control systems are rare for trivial items like this.

Got a few more smart features i think should be the same with persona (mine's iriz)

This is not so smart feature that all standard car should have. Turning on map light manually but u forgot to turn it off. After u lock the car the map light also turn off to prevent batt drain

Oh yeah for those model without auto light the speedo will sound beep non stop to indicate that u have not turn off the lights after u remove the car keys after ignition is off.

Individual indicator for all 4 door sensors, boot and bonet. Annoys u to death if u decide to continue driving. It stops beeping when u stop the car.

Car key and 12v batt check when u start the car

The high beam is not mechanically toggled on/off. Its a single switch. It will return to low beam next time u turn on to prevent u from turning on the headlamp with high beam. Fog lamps defaults to off after u start the car.

A SERIOUS QUESTION.

I would like to have the members opinion regarding the dilemma I'm facing now.

I'm currently owning 2014 Toyota Altis 1.8G (no monthly commitment).

What do you say, is it a wise choice, if I let go of Altis, and get myself a 2017 Proton Persona Premium?

Safety wise, Persona tops Altis at reasonable price.

1.6L is enough for me. Main reason being is that I feel like paying more for things that i don't need.

So, enlighten me with your thoughts regarding my Dilemma.

Thanks 😊

I suggest to keep the car as well. Reason being
1) It was fully paid so no more commitment
2) Altis less headache, probably can last another 7years without major issues
3) It is still a safe car with good crash rating, only minus the traction control.
4) Altis 2014 RV should'nt be that high anymore since the new altis has traction control as standard now. So probably you can only get 75k for it. Basically u only get back ~15k if change to Persona premium.
5) Fuel consumption wise, Altis more efficient.

The only pros that i can think about is that since u downsize the car, basically road tax, tyres, insurance, and maintenance cost shall reduce as well. If you want to downsize to save some money might as well get the bezza/axia at 40k and keep the 35k cash instead tongue.gif

Hi everyone.

Anyone here has a permanent solution to solve the dashboard rattle issue with Persona? Please share your tips/trick with the rest smile.gif

DIY and use cloth tape from taobao/aliexpress. You need to apply to all the plastic joints in the dash. Speedometer, ac panel, ac vent, headunit cover, ac knobs, horn cover. Mine's iriz no more rattle from dash for almost a year now. Refer to iriz thread 1st page on how to remove some of the dashboard panels.

That's my guide tongue.gif I did more, but i forgot to document it down. Basically the door card trim, A-pillar (already common and easy to be removed), A/C panel, steering cover, the piece of plastic covering surrounding the glovebox, steering column cover, door step cover. If you guys have need guidance to remove this, just ping me and i will try my best to help.
Anyway, don't use electrical tape as i have mentioned earlier in iriz thread. Use cloth tape that can be bought from lazada as i find it has the best dampening effect on rattly plastics

I will modifiy the posts.

oops that thread is locked, and I can't modify it anymore.

Bro Zee, care to share abit on how to settle the AC Panel? Mine is only rattling there sad.gif
*
I dont have any pics after done but i got pics after removed the ac panel for reference.

This part quite difficult to be removed but not impossible.

This 1st image you see after removed, chances are the bottom clip will stuck in the slot. Remember to take it out carefully else it will drop behind. Remember to take out and put it back to the cover b4 u push it back in. For my case the 2 white clip is stuck in the slot. Mine after removing it, the center white clip drop behind and i din manage to retrieve it. Anyway it din cause any noise so i just leave it dropped behind. Without the clip it's still tight after putting it back.
There are 5 clips holidng it as shown in red circle below. The yellow one is not clip. Just slot in the hole. Bottom row 3 clips will stuck in the slot after removed as you can see in 2nd image
Attached Image

To remove the panel i remove glovebox 1st then use my hand to push it out from inside. I push out the red circled part from inside then slowly pull out the rest from outside. If you noticed here there are scratches but rest assured it wasnt caused by this method. Previously i use screwdriver to pry out from bottom but failed, hence the scratches. A lesson learnt for me so u guys wont repeat the same mistake as i did.
Attached Image

I use cloth tape to tape the red circled part as shown below. Just cut the tape nicely so when you put panel back u wont be seeing any tape exposed. Yellow part i use daiso thick soft sponge tape so that when u press the panel it wont make nyek nyek sound.
Attached Image

Good luck!

I think i will do it one shot la... LOL!

crayzee, those clips very sturdy?
*
Sturdy, in fact i opened 3 times already, unless you bent the legs until break when pulling out.
Actually break also nvm la, there are 5 clips to hold it very securely. Wrap the broken clip "leg" with tape and it will stay there inside the slot, wont affect usability tongue.gif
