hi just wondering the buku merah thingy is it a must? because my wife is 5 months pregnant and we have been to sarmukh clinic at genting klang for the 3rd time but we didn't get any of the buku merah,we did ask the nurse but she's saying doctor only give once the baby was delivered.is that buku merah really compulsory?and where can we obtain it?

You'll get the red book when you register at gov facility/ KKI/ hospital. That is your clinic card and used only for pregnancy period
After birth your baby will have an entirely new book on their own

I go check up at private hospital, they gave me a book to record my pregnancy progress, it's not the same format as the Buku Merah given at Klinik Kesihatan though. But IF emergency and the nearest is a gov hospital, I don't think they will turn you away if you don't have the buku merah. It would help if you have a record of your pregnancy progress though.
