Hi all, seeking your help for setting up network on our double story building. Situation:
- Unifi router on front desk PC, ground floor, and there are 2 more PC in 2 different rooms on ground floor as well.
- 2nd floor has 10 PC, 5 in room A, 2 in room B, and another 3 in room C.
So, what is the best setup to connect all PC with lan cables, apart from the one that is already connected to unifi? Also may need to prepare for future expansion of a few more PC. Is using switches enough?
Another things worth mentioning is, we need the whole building to have wifi coverage. No drillings involve, because we will just pull cable from downstairs up, and for the rooms, cables can go under the door and will be taped on the floor.

Thx.

depends if all the room have the cable infra already pulled. If you want a good job then make sure each room have network jacks and then it all terminates next to the front desk PC area and you can use a mini switch to connect them all and one of the connection from the swtch to your router and done

You can buy those wifi can create a cluster with management like ubiquiti. else just buy those with strong signal long antenna one separate using SSID like level1, level2

You need at least 2 switches.

One for the ground floor and one for the upstairs.

Router connect from your BTU modem.
Switch 1 connect to LAN 1 port at the router
Switch 2 connect to LAN 2 port at the router
Any PC can connect to any switches which deem suitable.
Any wireless access point can connect to any switches which deem suitable.

No cable infra or anything in the rooms. Perhaps just want a simple cabling setup only.

How about getting a router for 2nd floor to act as WiFi AP, then connect one switch on the 2nd floor router? can be done like that?

Any suggestion for wifi extender or better use router as AP?

yes it can be done using any wifi AP/router, my suggestion:

pull all the cable to one location at level 1 to a wall mounted small rack near your internet router and number them, then pull maybe 4 cables (for spare and backup, just in case some cables spoilt) from level 1 to level 2 to a small wall mounted small rack where all the level 2 cables meet, both wall mounted racks has 1 network switch connect both level, all your wifi AP can connect to the same network this way and easier to manage.

for backup cables important if you are running very critical business like 24 hour, means cannot afford downtime.

Long time didn't check back this topic. I have bought all the infra ready, am gonna do it this way. Easier and the best part I feel is that all the cable at 1 place, so easier to manage, unlike having switches and cables laying all around the place.
