Hi I'm a total noob and newbie at this camera thing. Wanted to get a camera for scenery, traveling, people etc. Budget is around 1.5-2k

Any specific brand or camera recommended? Any advice? Thank you in advance

Why not upgrade your hp with a better camera? Perhaps iphone 7/7s? Many bought a dedicated camera but ended up putting it in storage after awhile. I am just trying to help u to put your investment to good use.

On the other hand, if u insist on getting a dedicated camera, I wiuld suggest a Sony a5100+ 1650kit lens. It is compact, have flip up screen for selfie and touchscreen, which is good for vlogging too. And most importantly, it fit your budget.

i rekomen the olympus e-pl7 for your budget range.

A small compact camera is a must?

Try to get the Sony RX100 Mark III (search around lazada/shashinki/kldslr) if you can top up some $$, else the Mark II would be just fine. It has a 1inch sensor which is much better than the camera u linked.

typical camera still have the basic functionality to get a good picture.
In term of scenery and portrait is really depends on the lenses while part of it is about your learning skill in photography.

If your demand on picture is just for instagram or facebook, do get a good phone such as huawei with Leica. Well, if you really demand a much better and more dynamic color range in the photo, then really must get a good typical camera.

premium compact camera versus camera with lenses is really depends on your convenience. If for travelling and good to go, ofcourse we pick premium camera such as sony rx series. it indeed have limited capture range and wide angle.

If we need more details in each picture we take, then we need camera with lenses such as sony alpha, olympus, canon. The lense part is really expensive cause we need different lenses for scenery, protrait, night mode and etc.
