I want to ask if there are other brands of flashguns compatible with the Nikon D40. I find that the SB800/600 and the rest are a bit too pricey.
Can anyone help? Thanks!

Any place that I can find Metz? if im not wrong, there are some shops in SG wang that sells them, you have to go find it yourself though. Hmmm, for another option go to Bintang Maju, the curve, look for a guy call Ah Tam, say that lincoln recommend 1 ShinChan: Haha read the thread. Sure bo got such cheap flashgun? you can also check out their website for some infos for the flash gun. http://www.metz.de/en/ But i really personally suggest that you go for the SB-600 or the SB-800. |

If not mistaken decent metz units start from ~2k++.
A nikon flash, like the sb600 integrates well with the system, any compatibility problem can hantam nikon kau kau, whereas u buy a 3rd party (eg. sigma dg500) flash might have compatibility problems |

Nikon uses ISO mount hotshoe.
So almost any chapalang flash gun can be mounted & get triggered. Difference? Whether it support the so called D-TTL or I-TTL metering for auto flash exposure. |

I see... Thanks for the info you guys.
After learning that a Metz flashgun can start from 2k++ upwards, RM600 for the SB600 doesn't sound too bad RaD!c4L: I'll go to the shop you recommended and at the same time look around ceo684: Noted on the compatibility issue scorgio: I need to learn more on this D-TTL and i-TTL thingy |
