If it's for common use, then you may not need the Touch Bar.

QUOTE(babystark @ Jul 29 2017, 12:12 PM) Are you bounded by a specific budget? For common use, could you be specific? The cheapest solution for a Macbook which is brand new would be to get the Macbook Air which currently starts at RM4,199 for the most basic model. The screen isn't as sharp and clear as its older brothers because it isn't a "Retina screen" which is apple lingo for a high resolution screen. Otherwise, you can opt for the 12" Macbook which costs more but is super sleek and portable. One of the nicest and sleekest looking ultra portables around. Not very powerful but enough to cater for web surfing, office work and light photo editing. A powerhouse would be the Macbook Pro series but since you say it is for common use, it may be overkill. If you are ok with second hand Macs or laptops in general, you can also opt to see secondhand Macbook Pros in the garage section here in the forums. Some of them have great value. |

QUOTE(TheMrBinary @ Jul 29 2017, 12:47 PM) Well, no, I wouldn't say it's a useless feature. It's aesthetically pretty to look at with vibrant colours and touch functionality to control a host of stuff. Stuff that those MacBooks without the Touch Bar would resort to shortcut key strokes to do the same. However many Mac old timers would call the Touch Bar gimmicky and unnecessary. |

QUOTE(TheMrBinary @ Jul 29 2017, 12:47 PM) Depending on ur needs actually, if u are Using the macbook for normal usage. The non-touchbar is good enough. But if u like the following, no harm to spend a little more for the touch bar too, 1) Touch ID - certainly a good and convenient feature for anyone, especially MacBook Pro one is 2nd gen, the same as iphone 7, fast and accurate for payment, unlocking your macbook or installing of apps or changing settings for your macbook. 2) 4 thunderbolt 3 ports - now maybe overkilled, but one cannot deny that it will make the machine more future proof. 3) 28W vs 15W Processor - The touchbar version can technically run at full speed much longer than the non-touchbar version, due to the throttling by the heat. For normal tasks, one may not be able to tell the difference this is true, but it is also something to consider. The base clock rate is higher for touchbar version explains this. 4) Touchbar - yes, it may not be perceived as essential now, but with the software upgrade and better support for third party app, this may not a bad thing to have. At least for touchbar version, one possess the full potential of the MacBook Pro comparing to the non-touchbar version, no matter u really use the touchbar or not, at least you have a choice anytime later. And the extra of touchbar is just a fraction of the total price of the macbook. |

QUOTE(firdausbhari @ Aug 31 2017, 02:25 PM) depend also. if one wanna use pendrive or external drive. for external drive not recommended to format fat32. I never recommend fat32 I never recommend exfat as u suggest instead. At this century, no one should even think about fat32 in the first place.u cannot transfer files more than 4gb if using fat32. Many home appliance or computer devices like tv, wireless router, cloud storage etc all do Nor recognise exfat but NTFs is certainly not a problem. Since it can only be recognised mostly in computer systems, it is not useful file system if one is to use it across different systems. that's why NTFS is the best file system to use. Since macOS or other OS can recognise it natively for read at least but Windows does not recognise hfs even for read without third party tool. it is way easier to just stick to NTFS for everything and just make macOS capable to write on it.
