Microsoft DirectX is a group of technologies designed to make Windows-based computers an ideal platform for running and displaying applications rich in multimedia elements such as full-color graphics, video, 3D animation, and rich audio. DirectX 9.0 includes security and performance updates, along with many new features across all technologies, which can be accessed by applications using the DirectX 9.0 APIs.

It is required by almost all PC games and 3D applications.

IMO, updating to latest DX9.0c isn't a bad idea... smile.gif, sometimes it's just a minor change; add some; or even fix here and there...

redistributable package are the final set for release to public. SDK is software developer kit meant for developers to install as it contains debugging and programming tools.

Redistributable package means that you can updating program into your pc without online. It didn't need to validate your windows and it can be used in any pc and really help the network technician to update the whole pc in the lab/office .. laugh.gif
