QUOTE(soonwai @ Aug 25 2017, 02:50 PM) In order of preference: Thank you1. Wired WiFi Access Point (best but needs cabling) 2. Homeplugs (may not work well if 3-phase electricity and plugs are on different phases) 3. WiFi Repeater aka extender (most convenient but adds even more radio interference) I think I will use my Archer C9 and run a long network cable to downstairs. Have any of you guys use the new TpLink Deco? |

QUOTE(FirstAidKit @ Nov 14 2017, 09:13 PM) Hi guys. Just convert my Streamyx 4MB package to Unifi 10MB package. And the router provided not strong enough to emit all the signal wave in my 3 storeys house. Any recommendation brand of Wifi Extender ? Similar to you I upgraded to Unifi 10MB from Streamyx. I highly recommend TP Link Deco M5 mesh wifi http://www.lazada.com.my/tp-link-deco-m5-a...kposition=prod1 because it is easy to install and it maintains the speed of 10Mbps at all areas of my 8000 sqft house no loss of speed. Problem with extender it something cuts your speed to half.I have an eye on this http://www.tp-link.com/us/products/details...TL-WA855RE.html, not sure compatible with my router or not. |

this 10X increase will only work on landed property and fibered apt/condo. This is because the last upgrade for my condo to 50mpbs cannot be done due to copper connection. hence I am stuck to 30 mbps. While for my kampung if they can upgrade vdsl2 to 30mbps I will be happy.

Called 100 though she cannot check whether I am eligible or not for upgrade because need to check via tm website. she mentioned that minimum upgrade is either 2X or 100X regardless of FTTH or VDSL.

The problem with TM I think is that they generalized everything such as oh you SUBB cannot upgrade because no good copper connection and to play same they don't like to receive a lot complains if they cannot deliver the said speed.
I am a SUBB VDSL2 customer where the cabinet is 10 meters away from house. if based on the following, 100Mbps could be achieved I think? Attached thumbnail(s) |

QUOTE(JohnLai @ Aug 2 2018, 08:22 PM) Not copper line fault. Thanks for the infoHe has a good SNR and low attenuation. It is dsl noise profile issue. It can be rectified by TM. His upstream has interleaving depth of 1 (FastPath) = very good, in theory, only 0.2milliseconds overhead. But his downstream on the other hand.....ouch...... |

I am on SUBB unifi lite 10Mbps VDSL2. The fiber optic cabinet distance to my house is 5 meter. Since the distant is so near, is it possible for TM to fiberize my line.

AHHH so confusing!! SUBB some say can get to 50Mbps some say cannot, some say can get to 100Mbps some say cannot. VDSL? VDSL2? TM Point answered just flat NO.

QUOTE(MrSpeedy @ Oct 17 2018, 10:57 AM) 1. What is the price? Need clarification. In my case for example. Fiber to TM cabinet and copper to my landed property current mode VDSL2-17A Annex A. Is it SUBB or VDSL?2. Are you landed or highrise? 3. There are two types of Unifi Copper. a) SUBB copper = landed Unifi copper - > usually only support up to 10 Mbps b) VDSL copper = highrise Unifi copper - > max can go 50 Mbps |

QUOTE(MrSpeedy @ Oct 17 2018, 11:28 AM) Your's is SUBB. Thanks for the info. The TM cabinet is actually in front of my house and the copper termination from the cabinet to my house is about 10-20 meter i guess. How can i convince them that mine is like highrise vdsl because i don't know whether TM system at TM Point has distance indication in it.Actually all Unifi copper is utilizing VDSL tech. VDSL tech is an upgraded tech to ADSL tech used in Streamyx. It is a convertion if fiber to be used with existing copper line. However, due to distance limitation, after 1KM the transfer speeds drops significantly. Hence thats why they only offer you 10 Mbps for landed (correct me if Im wrong) due to the distance from TM cabinet to your house (or housing area copper exchange). But if highrise buildings, due to fiber-to-copper exchange occur at the lowest floor, thus it should be no distance problem to deliver to the upstairs residences. Hence it is safe to offer them 50 Mbps. |

QUOTE(MrSpeedy @ Oct 17 2018, 08:08 PM) Wow. Thanks will try but will try to avoid 30Mbps due to the 60GB cappedYour house really can go 100/50Mbps dl/ul Here's the details: Rated (kbps) -> TM assigned speed to your house 12.8 Mbps download 6.144 Mbps upload Attainable Rate (kbps) -> what your router "see" the possible speed for you connection. 113.476 Mbps download 50.527 Mbps upload But I'm not sure about the SNR and Attenuation, but from my experience using Streamyx, this is considered strong signal. Try to show them this stats to TMPoint and see if they able you to get best effort for 100 Mbps Edit: If TM couldn't give you 100/50 Mbps, maybe they will give you 50/30 Mbps instead for stability reasons. |
