this one confirm, but TM point said it's not open. mainly use for termination purpose customer.

i'm first batch of unifi lite 10Mbps (VDSL2 highrise) since 28 April 2017, last week chekc with TM point, TM said able to offer me that RM89 30Mbps unlimited quota with new contract
*
Most of the front desk staffs will not offer you because its not in their daily target sales. You need to be lucky enough to meet their TM Point branch manager or exec in duty that day with proof that you're leaving Unifi and join other networks before they can try to counter offer you this as last attempt to sign the termination.

Earlier I was offered Unifi RM119 30M unlimited plan with 600mins local calls. Then I told them they're not any close to what Maxis symmetrical 30M fibre line is not only more valuable but cheaper. Then only with the last attempt to keep me from terminating their Unifi line which contract is already over long time they offered this 30M unlimited plan at RM89.

For rural and smaller towns the emphasis is on 5G and 4G+ Wireless.

You can still achieve fibre-like speeds with them under low population density.
They're also considered fibre solutions except its called Fi-Wi solutions which has wireless access points/base stations fed with fibre cables.

if still in contract, call 100 press 4 & tell them u stay in highrise & wan change package to 30mpbs @ RM89
if out of contract, you can switch to maxis

TN Unifi's RM89 Super Value 2019 plan is good. With Maxis you need to install 2 devices meaning you need double electrical plug points to connect to the internet.

TM will only use 1 BTU with built in router for their high rise Unifi service also the added advantage is that since the BTU and router is one device, it's under lifetime warranty like under rental. If it gets damage, you get a full 1 to 1 replacement.

Idk why but I think this plan will be failure because it's powered by LTE and by signal. If the network is congested, surely the speed will drop and the ping will spike. You also can't torrent using this kind of thing. Plus, Unifi Mobile 4G is still not available in my area while other Telcos already here. That's kind a stupid.

I second you on what you said and truly agree.

Coming from an ex-Digi Infinite 150 user that turned fibre fixed line, LTE speeds fluctuates extremely over the day. Worst is when you live in highly congested places. It can be worst than even a 10M Streamyx/Unifi line during peak hours.

On average ping is at least 2X or more higher than fibre plans which is very bad for live streaming and gaming.
If you get <10ms pings to local servers, LTE is going to get you at least 20ish or 30ish rates to the same local servers.

I've tried to watch OTT live streaming IPTV with my Infinite 150 with Taiwanese/China servers. The high ping rates created hell for me.
Imagine the voice/sound is delayed by few secs after the video scene has passed. On top of that the playback would frequently paused for buffering almost every few mins during peak hours.

The switch from LTE to fibre was 2 worlds apart. Everything was solved buffering had almost never taken place or rarely happened even during peak hours. No more irritating captchas because of CGNATs because of public ips given on fixed lines. P2Ps traffic were smooth as silk.

Which ISP will subsidize their CPE without binding its customer?

It almost certain the modem will be carrier locked or else TM will be subsidizing other ISPs if they all follow the same move to sell plans similar to Infinite 150 without contract commitments.

Get your own fixed wireless modem out there. There are plenty in the market now selling online from brands like D-Link and Tenda.

I have a strong feeling that the original unifi lite is going to be sidelined again.

There's no future for copper. If you're landed with long loops, Gigawire and G.FAST are not suitable for your deployment type. They're more for in-building access where it's difficult to rewire with fibre through occupied conduits as such due to very old infrastructure.

The future for landed homes is only either pure fibre or fixed wireless.

Do you think those houses on VDSL2 can change to Celcom Home Fiber unlimted 30mbps?
*
High rise apartments yes where they have short loop VDSL2 that supports upto 50Mbps.

Extended long range landed homes under SUBB VDSL2 won't be supporting anything more than 20Mbps in Malaysia. Our landed copper lines are just as good as dead now.

If you're in this category your only hope is either fibre or fixed wireless broadband.

If still under copper infra without any choice for fixed line, better opt for wireless 4G LTE instead.

VDSL ping rates are just as bad as 4G LTE or worser.

Try searching if Unifi Air, Maxis WiFi Go or DiGi Infinite is available at your place and get the no-contract plan by using your own modem.

Not necessary. 3G/4G depends on congestion in the area as well.

Wireless plans do not have the same restrictions as copper fixed lines such as signing long term contracts with the advantage of modem portability.

Veveonah can carry her 4G MiFi modem up the tree and enjoy fast broadband in excess of 30M speeds which copper couldn't even attain or she can install a fixed modem in her house like the B618.

To attain 30Mbps with VDSL2 in rural areas using old copper technology is a serious challenge which is where wireless 4G+ LTE stands out.
