both using the same fibre cable, unless you using copper cable. you just need to inform them to upgrade your package when you needed it (they will adjust on their site). icon_idea.gif

Only Kuching and Miri users reported receiving the free upgrade sms till now. I believe TM will upgrade other customers in phases.

Thanks for the info. I went TM and tried digging their CS, showed me their upgrade path available for customers and even the thank you surprise estimated upgrade. But looks like Lite 10mbps won't get any surprise for west Malaysia.

That will be against me in my fight to get Unifi Lite vs my streamyx BB now sad.gif
I can see her saying this now: "See? same speed why need sidegrade to unifi and pay for the extra electricity?"

Anyway update to my TMpoint visit: exactly as I expected. "Oh we have no info on this. We will confirm you and call you back today when we got info ok?" then till now no call... Great service as always from our beloved monopoly TM.

Well it's only fair that your sister is made aware of all the factors.
U can also tell her that the upload speed is way faster than Streamyx; it'll increase yr torrent seed ratio resulting in shorter download times and that may result in less wear and tear on your devices, along with a commensurate decrease in power consumption. No idea how you'd quantify that to her though.

There's also less likelihood of damage from a lightning strike when you're on a fiber optic line, as compared to copper lines.

I believe there was an agent for Sarawak listed in post #1 of this thread...u could give him a try.

The download speed improved by +20-25%.
The upload speed improved by 500% (I can use HD CCTV monitoring from my mobile now!)
Torrent download, not throttled at this moment! (So download is now a few hundred % faster)

The electricity consumption is very minimal.
I don't think you switch off your modem when you are not using Streamyx? doh.gif

My current 8mbit runs at 10mbit. And she just throw her drama torrent download to me using a seed box service that I paid for lol. And tell me hey u are the one who needed the side grade.

And you'd be surprised: yes we do switch off modem when not in use. Lol see how picky one can get when it comes to saving money? (and guess what, we're not even in poverty or anywhere near poverty, just a regular family)

The lightning strike prevention will be a strong point tho. Since we got 3 modems spoilt by lightning over these years. Even killed one of my mobos and network card.

Thanks guys. Time to battle it out tonight

What are the download speeds that you guys are getting from Filezilla? Is it normal if i'm only getting 1MB/s from 10MB/s line?

Just tested friend's stb on my unifi lite but does not work, maybe like some said the mac address needed to be register which I am still curious which mac address, the router?

Thinking will it be pointless even if you called tmnet as we are not been entitled to tv box at the first place.

I was paying 149 for VIP 5. Went to downgrade my pricing to 129 for VIP 10 last week Friday.

I'm not sure if I'll be getting the free upgrade to 30mpbs?
*
if you downgrade, will they start a new 2 years contract?

downgrade means no more hypp tv and free landline calls?

It is the MAC address of the STB.

Yes. It'll be a renew contract. No more hypptv and calls, not that I'm using them anyways.

My IP changes every few minutes. Is this normal? Is this due to PPPoE?

i'd assume that u're referring to the WAN (internet) IP address and not your internal network IP address... no it is not normal - shouldn't change every few minutes

About 3 weeks ago, TM came to change my neighbour's Streamyx to fibre. I think she was on 1 or 2mbps. So now she's running on fibre with a new BTU, DIR-850L router and HyppTV STB(!).

When I do a speedtest, I'm getting 5/5mbps. What plan is she on?
*
Just to answer myself. Found out that she's on VIP5 (OKU) RM119, HyppTV, No Free calls. Not sure how she got that package in 2017.
