Hi All,

Anyone here changed their alternator yet. I had to change mine recently and it cost quite a bit - RM 2500. Done it at one authorized naza kia outlet. My mileage above 130K. Car is Forte 2.0SX.

Is it that expensive?
*
Been quoted the same price at Kia Service centre also. My problem was the pulley spoilt (freee running). At last replace only the pulley at Korean Car Mate Glenmarie for around RM500++ because SC couldn't replace only the pulley.

I don't think the Forte's factory fitted touch-screen HU allows for mirror-link.
However, you are right in that the HU runs on WinCE.
Not entirely sure how you could install a mirror-link software other than through the SD Card.
*
I remember I once saw a post in Kia Forte FB group got people successfully mirrorlink-ed their Android device to Kia Forte's HU.
1. Download a software call ECSetup_4.4.32.1
2. Copy the folder to the SD card
3. Change the navi folder to the ECSetup.exe
4. Enable USB debugging mode of your Android device
5. Plug in your phone to the HU through the USB port

I've tried mine with no success. Don't know it's my android device problem not supported or what.

Hi guys, my apologies if this has been answered before - but have you guys got any recommendation for replacement of in-car entertainment system in 2014 forte? My touchscreen unit (last batch 2014 Kia forte) is no longer responsive to touch.

I called Kia PJ Red Cube and was quoted RM10k for the touchscreen unit. RM9k for the manual unit (the first batch of Forte pre-facelift). The price is obviously out of question, given the same amount could have net someone a good home theater system (with change to spare) ...

Don't go to SC, go to Naza Solutions (Asia) Sdn Bhd as they are the one who provide accessories for Forte. Search google for their address.
I've been there 3 years ago, they were selling the Original Facelifted Forte touch screen headunit and they also provide the LCD replacement service.

nice, too bad, the forum dont have a praising function.

thumbsup.gif

so for forte, there's only 1 variance of engine, which is the  Theta II MPI G4KD single vvt.

any views for this car? 2.0 SX, 6 speed
*
Wow, price had gone down very fast. 3yrs ago I bought 2012 2.0 6speed for around 50k. For 24k I think it's quite a bargain.

Some review:
1. 90% highway driving will give u around 8-9L/100km; City driving around 13L/100km. This is for easy driving with occasionally spirited driving style.
2. Car is heavy. Even though the 2000CC is 156HP, it feels sluggish from start stop, but in other way, it's smoother driving.
3. Noise is kept minimal. Engine doesn't sound too loud.
4. The interior leather is of those hard type.
5. Aircond cooling coil fin is very "dense", easy to get clogged and causing freeze. Need to service regularly and replace cabin filter regularly.

Common problems:
1. MDPS gear
2. ECU
3. Side Mirror gear
4. Original touchscreen HU screen fade
*out of the 4, I had 3 of them.

Recently I have a new problem which don't have solution yet. The rear crossing arm bush is broken but no parts available/too expensive to replace.

That's why I have in mind now. Hope it helps.

1. It's the steering couple problem as mentioned by other forumers.
2. I think our car electric components are quite sensitive, it happens after few weeks I jump started my colleague's car. Few owners in FB groups also mentioned, don't jump start other people's car or let other people's car jump start your car.
3. Yea it's about RM120/side to fix the problem with the metal gear. But I just remove the pin from the connector and leave it.
4. Yea possible it's due to inferior quality as I think it's made out of man made's leather and feels very hard. Seems like the heat from the sun alone can worn the leather out.
+workshop also told to replace the whole rear crossmember which will cost a bomb. Those proper hyundai/kia stockist don't have the bush and I don't have much time to source from other workshop. Maybe those modification workshop will have.

I got the same issue as well, crossmember bushes worn got free play. Was told by mech only option is to replace the whole thing which cost RM2k.  rclxub.gif

Mech said was caused by worn rear absorbers.

There could be a way to pump the bushes out using machine since lower arm can be done. But unsure how or who can do it. I just leave it for now.
*
Definitely can pump out the bushes and replace only the bush, the question is only who will do it? This worn out bush is causing my car to vibrate at high speeds, lose traction during cornering, uneven rear tyre thread wear, and also slowly will cause the absorber to fail soon.

I have my lower arm bush pumps out and replace by korean carmate
*
Hi, not the front lower arm. I'm talking bout the rear torsion beam/cross member bush.

QUOTE(kurty @ Feb 24 2020, 11:56 AM)
where are you located?

like i say, mechanic nowadays would choose the easier way out.
replace the whole arm..

only a few that are honest and helpful enough
*
KL. Probably not that they want an easier way out, I think is because nobody sell the bush alone.
