congrats on v22...

with regards to my very first post here - metal knocking sound and dying shock absorbers, i bit the bullet and spent half the day (and quite a sum of money) at Autosavers yesterday.

Changed 4 absorbers, 2 lower arms, 1 stabilizer bush among several other things. Everything is ok now. No more sounds, a more rounded (and more comfortable) ride, no more harshness. Just like what Aizat_879 said.

Forte 2.0 SX.

Check engine light is on. What are the probable causes?

Can't say i know for sure. Your situation is too vague. Best course of action is to go to a proper SC.

2 pcs small stabilizer bush cost RM150 ?
RM500 for recon lower arm, since new lower arm also around that price....

sudah naik kereta, haha. i've never had that part changed before so i didn't know the cost.

and this is autosaver, so i had a little bit more faith in them after reading up on forums.

so call korea brand is exp than mando set?
i thought mando is exp than others? except ori la
*
Mando should be the original ones.

I only agreed because autosavers was highly recommended. And according to the boss, there is a shortage of Mando absorbers.

Also, the KSA rear absorbers that I just changed to... today blew out one side. Went back to autosavers and got it replaced to KSW ones at no extra charge. So all my absorbers are purple now.

KSW although I don't know the history, the ride quality of the car now is very agreeable. Car feels new again. So, win some.. lose some.

Mando is the OEM brand, not really original...

Last time the boss also said shortage of Mando, that's y I changed to KSA...is it the PJ branch??
Actually outside still got many Mando stock...
I also replaced one side after few weeks under their warranty...
Nx time just don't use unknown brand again...my lesson learned...
*
PJ branch.

Just came back from a roadtrip to Endau Rompin, 4+ hours in mostly B roads through Negeri Sembilan. I'm pretty happy with the car now. Ride is hard (from the wheels) but supple. Fun to drive again, just like when it was new.

Hi guys / otais,

I am planning to get Kia Forte for weekend and long distance travel / balik kampung (kuantan, terengganu).
The 1.6 version, is it really underpowered?
I read from a few site people are saying the 1.6 is underpowered for the body.
And lastly, any common issue about the car?
*
Depends on your definition of underpowered. 2.0 definitely more power than the 1.6, but to some ppl a 2.0l 154hp/195Nm output engine may not be enough also.

the available power is sufficient for the car (1.6), if you managed to get the 6-spd version, the power delivery is smoother and overtakes are quite easy, with more gears to drop down if you want to accelerate fast. it feels relaxed at highway speed.

of course the experience will be better with a larger engine. if you get to test drive them both, you can decide better.

either case, you're getting a decent and well equipped car at its current price.

With the 4-speed, you can do the manual shift thing... just less convenient...

I was coming off a Honda City 1.5L CVT, but didn't mind the Forte one bit since I drove solo most of the time... and the Forte was much better built.
*
You seem to miss your car. Hope you find new joy with your cerato. I definitely enjoyed being in one on a recent trip.

I feel like I came to the forte party pretty late.

Thats what i did.. but when u want to turn ur wheels and up/downshift at the same time, have to use the gear lever jugak since the paddle shift is out of reach.. sweat.gif
*
some times when i'm really bored driving back from cyberjaya, i try keeping my revs up above 4000 rpm on my B-road toll-free drive home (crossing Pulau Meranti, if you all familiar), have always been using the gearstick (push up/down) but feel it's more fun to do it with the paddle shifters with both hands on the wheel.

the car is much livelier at 3-5k rpm.

This Merdeka promotion looks very attractive, especially for those Forte Suspension parts...anyone try this?
Pls call to request in advance, else the SC normally will say no stock la, not applicable la, dunno la...etc...

Doesn't look like a bad deal. if this showed up 2 weeks ago, i would've gone here instead of Autosavers. I even changed my v-belt together with my absorbers & serviced the car. *sigh*

just ngam ngam timing bro. haha. i think its a bit expensive for rm180. I forget how much im getting it. but i rmb total include labour not sampai rm200.
*
you had a better deal than i did then sweat.gif

not as pandai as most of you in getting the best deals. ultimately, i use my cars a lot so i won't spare the expense (within reason) to keep them running.

also, sometime next week, i'll probably be testing out some LED headlamp bulbs for the low beam. the shop that did my HID were very sorry about the last time and showed me some LED bulbs installed in one of their cars. looks very promising. will take the time to experiment with it.

Wow, that's a lot.  I got it changed at only rm100.00 include labour. The v belt are from bando although the packaging is hyundai Kia mobis. For tensioner, what is the symptoms before we decide to change it?
*
You also had a better deal. Same as yours.

My case was the belt was chirping/squeaking quite loud. Like a bearing rubbing sound that got faster when you accelerate. Could hear it from inside the car.

no la, not saying whose better in getting the deals. Just to share which workshop providing the best price and workmanship. Because as what i rmb 180 for V belt is kinda expensive. i think i have to dig out some receipt. haha.

LED headlamp bulbs? hmmm. are you the one who wanted to do retrofits? Personally for me i wont use LED. Reflector lamp should better stay with normal bulbs i guess. For me i would try those philips or osram or PIAA bulbs. Output of HID is bright but inconsistent for me. For LED, not much comments, but it seems to look bright but the light throw might not be as far as bulbs.
*
Yes. I'm still thinking about doing it, just a little later. Especially after my absorber +++ changes. But my curiosity is on how LEDs would work in the forte. Can't find that answer anywhere online.

Currently using Osram Nightbreaker Lasers. Really good range, brightness and colour. Night time driving in back roads much nicer as I also got the lights properly adjusted.

Wanted to see if LED will end up better than my HID disaster. Will be testing 4300K H7 LED bulb.
