Wanna ask..

So i am thinking to get a Honda Civic 1.5T or either the 1.8L

So my question is, how the maintance of the turbo variant?

Can i change the engine oil every 10,000km?

Because I heard turbo engine need to take more proper care.
Like need to change engine oil earlier? Is it true?

Looking at the figure, 170+ hp from such a small 1.5L engine and single scroll turbo, it must face alot of force to get that power figure..

So 1st question, need change oil earlier or can change like normal aspirated car at 10,000km or more?

Second question,

i see that the 1.5T engine is using Direct injection rather than PFI..
Will the engine face carbon build up issues later?

Or is it the Honda 1.5T are as the same as the new Toyota GDI which have dual function.When idle, the valve spray fuel like PFI but when car in move change back to GDI.. So can prevent carbon??

Any suggestion are welcome..

If not I would take the civic 1.8L

dont worry, by the time the turbo or engine got problem, u ledi changed the car dy, honda resale value high, after 5 years u sell still cn sell high price biggrin.gif

Turbo got lifetime , won't last forever , seals especially

It still operates are extreme temperatures

Honestly because the gearbox is CVT, the 1.8 is enough

And you are exactly right that engines are pushed to limit as much as possible to get the power and keep cost.low

When people are buying 2.0t that pushes out over 400hp and not worrying about it

You're sceptical about a 1.5T with mere 170hp?

Might not be related to your questions above. My father in law just bought Civic 1.8. I took it for a spin on highway. The acceleration is good enuff, can reach to 190 km/j quite fast without much effort. However, the car turns me down on handling side. I am used to drive Gen2 which by far have the good handling for the car in its price range. The Civic handling is far from that. It feels wobbly at high speed straights, let alone in the corners. Need to do micro adjustments on the steering to keep the car straight. Quite frightening I might say. I am looking at either Mazda 3 or Jetta now.

Dun listen to ppl say

Turbo is the future, small engine with Turbo is the way now, Turbo is normal now, Turbo is reliable, Turbo is this and that...thats not wanting turbo must be living in carburetor age....

Later after your warranty finish and engine light come out, sudden lost of power, and after a week find oil spots under your car and repair bill is RM8K...dun say I didnt warn you..

our malaysia road so lou ya .... no need turbo la.. later ur car even worst if drive fast , maintainance sure more expensive than non turbo .. if u fine bear the cost just do it

Maintenance for turbo cars will always be higher even if they are light pressure turbo like the Civic. You will gain more power and fuel efficiency but in the long run, NA cars will always give you less headache & lower overhead cost.
