MIC epiphone lespaul standard ( rm2060 without bag before discount )
+
Either Laney amp or Roland amp ... not sure ( about 400-500 )

Im sure about the LP but are laney amps good for my chemical romance and blues type sound ? looking at the laney 35 watt amp

Sounds like He's getting from Beatspot as they sell both the Laney and Epis.
Be careful.... if you're buying it there, they are all MIC (Made In China) which is inferior to the MIK models (Made in Korea).... but if you're buying new, it's hard to track down a MIK model.

RM2050 for a MIC Epi LP Std WITHOUT gigbag is c-crazy....... If I'm not mistaken, Harmony in Uptown is selling MIK Epis at a much cheaper price..... is that right EverDying? Please re-confirm this.

And if you're after MCR's sound.... I suggest investing a little more and get yourself a Vox AD30VT... it's about RM1000, but hopefully with discount, they can bring it down..... Also, you might shave off a few bucks with the cheaper LP std.

If the AD30VT is out of your reach still.... maybe the AD15VT would be more then sufficient for Bedroom jamming.

i dont recall harmony having any MIK's there.
so i guess they'll have to order, and im sure they can also give a better price.

and yea, i wouldnt suggest those MIC's at beatspot.
like i said before, i tried 5 set neck models they had there, 4 standards, 1 special.
none of them felt right, neck too thin, body too light.

Check with them and see if it's a MIK you're buying or a MIC.....
It's easy to tell.... there's a sticker at the back saying it's a MIC or MIK tongue.gif
If you're STILL uncertain, I'm sure you can arrange with one of our "veterans" here to meet up and test the guitar.

I would suggest otherwise... AD 30VT is freaking heavy and quite big for bedroom jamming... Vox pathfinder 15R would make a good investment.. or if he wans more stuff to toy around with, get a microcube or DA-5...

i heard there is alot of inconsistency in the MIC LP, the wood shows an alder instead of mahogany, necks etc... i suggest u reconsider ur option... many of the experienced one i believe would suggest u go against it...

For Rm2k plus... u can try getting MIJ guitars from singapore or get the Highway one from Everdying.. Those i believe would be a much better investment compared to the MICs

If u insist on humbucker, there is always ibanez, yamaha etc.. alternatively, u can get good started guitars worth few hundred such as SX before diving all the way getting a Rm2k guitar...

Just my 2cents...

Well..for MCR they dont have a distinctive sound. Its your typical punk rock sound, lots of distortion.
But their lead guitarist, Ray Toro, has a quite sweet sound. He uses LOTS of LP's, all mostly Epi Elitist, and Gibsons.

The LP standard you're getting may get you close to MCR's tone. smile.gif
But one thing....CREATE your own. You dont wanna be playing using that same tone all day long..

Play around with the EQ smile.gif.

differentiating MIC or MIK is very easy even if they remove the sticker.

all MIC serials have TWO LETTERS before it, usually EE or DW.
MIK all ONE LETTER.
of cos MIJ is another story.

but basically thats all there is to it.

i also seen MIC with a nice stamp/logo that says crafted in china just behind the headstock.
that one is lacquered over so ppl cannot cheat tongue.gif

With a Rm2k budget, he can get alot of things in Malaysia, but i would really advise going against MIC seeing the many bad rep they got... plus with so many counterfeits in the market, i think ther is high chances of getting conned if went into the wrong shop...

Everdying, have u tried the SX LP?? heard some good reviews from singapore forummers...

On second thought.. if i were in his foot, i would have got a better amp like ac15, blues junior and spend less on the guitar... I didnt do that last time when i have the cash.. now think about it.. could ve got a good amp..
Instead i bought the ad 30vt due to marketing tricks about tube and stuff... i was a noob then.. lol biggrin.gif

most ppl's budget for amp is usually below RM1k, unless of cos you're a rockstar wannabe then go all out and get a proper halfstack.
also most of them are blinded by all the effects found on the amps now.
in the end they get like a jack of all trades amp, and of cos master of none.
like Mr.Z has found out about the AD30 tongue.gif

but still, its better to get a good guitar and a decent amp.
at least you can still enjoy playing guitar, rather than cursing the stupidly setup guitar etc etc.

anyway, my fender should be sold by tonight.
and i actually had a offer from netherlands for the samick V tongue.gif
of cos the shipping would've killed the price, so called it off.
