I'm a month old Uber Black driver.
Last night, i picked up a foreign rider in KL, short ride but during the ride, i overheard him talking on the phone his flight out the next morning (this morning) is at 730am and he needs to leave the hotel by 530am.
What i did (maybe it was stupid) was to actually be at his hotel before 530am and camp there. I went online and selected KLIA as my destination, so that Uber will not send me any ride request out of the way.
I waited a few minutes and decided to open the Uber Rider app on my other phone, just to see if there's any other Black drivers around at 530am in KLCC. I set destination to KLIA and to my shock, there's no cars available! Not even my car was listed as available! I went offline and online again, all ok, i'm Online. But once i set my destination to KLIA, i was immediately taken offline on the Rider app.
In the end, i had to remove the destination and was open to all request otherwise i wouldnt get ping. Lo & behold, at the end, i did get a ride request, 15mins away, and to Subang. bummer!!

The same morning, i picked up a Singaporean rider from a hotel in KL. again short ride, but the rider ask me if i'm interested in sending her to the airport in the afternoon. She's on a business trip so it needs to be Online.
So i told her i'll be at the hotel lobby and she should request for a ride only after she got into my car so i'll get the ping and i'll only go online then.
We did all that but Uber simply did not assign me her ride request even if i'm the nearest driver. She had to cancel like 3 times and i had to ignore a ping.
At the end, she selected a different destination, ping my car, and then change destination to KLIA once i was selected.

This got me thinking, do they have special rules for Airport rides? How is it i couldnt set KLIA as my destination and get request to KLIA only? How is it even when i'm the nearest driver the ride request to KLIA did not come to me? While i understand a FIFO system for rides from KLIA, there shouldnt be one for rides to KLIA right?

Maybe other drivers can share some info??

p/s: heard from a rider that there's rumour that the Uber driver app can be 'adjusted' to only receive trips to airport. Is it true? While i'm happy to get 1 airport trip per week, i've heard of others with 8-9 trips per Day!

you should just side deal with the passenger. no need use the apps unless they required receipt for claiming purposes. outside also got sell receipt if they accept such receipt.

fetching into klia very slim chance of spad arrest you. pandai2 pretend as friend. so far spad will catch those ulat offering side deal going out of klia. but you bear your own risk.

For second case, just talk to rider 2 have the off line deal with her based on the rider app price. No need to paid 2x% of commission to ublur.

See what is their reply.
Post it here to share.

Driving Uber for 1 year.
Ping is not always based on the nearest driver, the system will choose which driver to assign.

Based on my past experiences, after doing a couple of short trips - u will be assigned to a mid/long trip. Unless the area you are in is 100% short trips only, then no choice.

Lotsa hanky-panky stuff inside their system.

That I agree, nearest driver get the ride is not pretty much a lie.

They assign you wherever they want, unless there is no one available.
To be fair it is most noticeable when you are about to hit your target, all the rides in even in KL will point you out KL City.

I get all the long rides, when I reaching my weekly ride goal.. : (

Tried 2 phones side by side U-app
1 Driver 1 Rider. Order a ride but driver app did not receive. Went to another driver.

Just ask her to sit in front. Then the taxi drivers have no reason to suspect you.
