I own the Astro A30 with Mixamp for my current PS3.
Sound is amazing compared to anything I've owned (which is not saying much haha) but I really love this pair of headphones!
Only downside is it takes a USB port in order to have mic-chat enabled.
I don't suppose there is anyway around this, right?

Yes there is and this is how I do it: use a bluetooth mic.

Sound output device should be to System Default instead of the bluetooth device. Works wonders for me and gives me the benefit of using any sort of headphones that I want with a TB DSS.

I didn't know I could do that.
Can I still control the voice chat and game audio ratio with the mix amp if I use this setup?
Will a normal bluetooth headset work for this or must I get a dedicated bluetooth mic?

Thanks for the tip!

Voice chat audio can be controlled provided the bluetooth mic/headset has volume controls for it.
I personally use an iTech Clip II mini and it has volume adjustment for the voice, though they are preset.

You can get a mic or a headset, whichever you want. Just as long as the mic is close to you so that you can actually use it.

Owh, the vc audio will not be channeled through the A30? I like that I can control the game audio versus the vc audio through the mixamp.
if i use the a bt headset, would I have to somehow put the headset underneath the headphones to listen to both?
sounds very uncomfortable haha

can the ps3 get vc input from a seperate mic and send the vc output to other device, like the headphones?

That's what I'm saying.

The voice chat audio WILL come out through your A30 if you set the bluetooth voice output to system default device (which is you Mixamp) under the PS3's bluetooth settings.
I use the Clip II mini, so I basically just clip it to my collar and that's it. I don't use the earpiece that is connected to the clip II.

The idea here is to use the bluetooth as the mic ONLY, but not replacing your headphones as a whole.

Hahaha Ok then I misunderstood your initial reply.

Thanks for the tip, dude!
