As far as i know, Norton is a resource-hog.

I am using the free version of AVG by the way, suit me well since i do not put my self at risk with unusual files.

AVS - Kaspersky Engine = Perfect. (Well, Almost)

Resource Hog = Use up A LOT of RAM/Memory. Thus, Computer lags/Slows down.

No doubt, AV uses Processing Power. So, it naturally is a Processing Hogger. That goes to ALL AVs. Undeniable. Cheers!

BD v10 was disappointing. Slower than Kaspersky 5.xx.xx Series. My opinion. And it just gave the same amount of Detections. Kaspersky earn my vote.

Processor Hogger and Memory Hogger are 2 different things. smile.gif In this age of time, Most computers would have outlived the 500Mhz Processor Timeline. In fact, quite a number of forumers are in 1Ghz and higher. AV Hogging Processing power is no longer an issue, and in fact, you can't feel it. The DIFFERENCE is that Memory Hogging is a BIG Issue. Windows XP uses a lot of RAM. If the AV uses a lot of RAM, the user will have no more RAM. So, Lag. Period. AVG and NOD32 are light weight. Period. Why? They don't take much RAM. laugh.gif

Cheers!

Comparing the retail copy of Kaspersky and AVS...are the detection rate and cleaning ability the same??

I'm actually using a retail copy of F-secure Antivirus 2007 right now, i'm considering an alternative anti virus to use when my license run out...

Is this site reliable for ranking of anti-virus programs in terms of detection rate??

Bit Defender .. someone in the bulk section sell it for Rm 45 .. cheaper .. but for Kaspersky, just add Rm 5 and you will get the one of the best antivirus in the world and easy to manage .. icon_idea.gif

P/s: Both is near equal .. just i don't like the way BitDefender eat RAM ..

yes thats true, low computer resource and best computer data protection from virii, trojan, rootkits and etc.. Although Kaspersky is good one also cannot beat NOD32 in the low computer resource matter.

Use Avira Antivir Personal Classic
It's the best Free Antivirus around this time.
Low Memory Usage (lower than 10K)

Their Premium Edition won the best detection rate in http://www.av-comparatives.org/
check it out. I don't really believe in magazine to rate them.
