Hi, i am trying to send mail using my localhost to my own computer

I am currently doing my college assignment, making a website blablabla (hosted in localhost).
i am using XAMPP for the PHP thing...

Am wondering how do i setup so that i can receive mail sent from my website?
Downloaded kerio mail server... but it is so-god-damn-advance .. i dont even have the slightest idea on how to configure it.

I tried adding a new user "test@localhost" using the Kerio, then setup a new POP account in Mail using the same information
When i try to send mail using php to test@publisher, Mail doesn't receive anything...

Anyone has any idea?

I am not used to XAMMP as I'm using AppServ but should not give big differences.
