My car has a projector headlamp housing (retro-fitted). Wanna ask if it's legal to change to LED bulb or not? The headlamp probably not made for Halogen bulbs, so damn dim, can barely see the road on streets without streelights. Way dimmer if compared with a Reflector Housing + Halogen bulb.

I know HID is confirmed illegal, so not considering that at all. If LED is allowed, do I have to use warm white, or can use white oso??

Before you guys flame me, projector housing has a good cutoff angle, 100% no glare (if level-ed properly) to oncoming drivers, doesn't matter if it's halogen led or HID.

Also another thing i want to know about headlamp legal thing... in other country my car model it comes with factory projector HID headlamp, but in malaysia it only has halogen headlamp. So if i replace my current headlamp with factory headlamp that has HID + projector, how this counts? Legal or not legal ?

LEDs are legal if u use the 4800k yellowish ones. Make sure the beam is adjusted lower if have manual adjuster.

Yup, already adjusted it very low, which is why the road is barely visible now with Halogen bulb

IF i am not mistaken, any retrofit regardless of whether you are using projector designed specifically for HID or not, JPJ will deemed it as illegal. Doesn't matter you 4300k or 6000k , HID or LED. For more info you may refer to an article written on "pauline" tan website where they did clarify about headlamp retrofitting with JPJ.

not u la ... u see later sure got some one come in and hantam one.

actually JPJ is kind of hard to implement this, cause our traffic act on head lamp is still 1987 (which outdated), but they can catch by kelvin (temperature).

So it's actually not 100% if LED (white or yellow) can be used? Not even JPJ?
Or can use yellow LED but not white.

Really hope that one day JPJ will at least allow retrofit with proper guidelines, some retrofitted headlight's quality is on par or even better than OEM lights. After all a good pair of lights at night makes a difference in safety. smile.gif

The only modification I have on my car now is tint, but I'm following the JPJ VLT rule so 100% no problem.

Just that the LED headlamp, even if go fight the case in court, lawyer fee + time also cost more than saman liao sweat.gif
