I thought so too. Because normally the resorts have a fix amount of tickets a day. So they will offer their divers if the quota not full. If they dont use it also wasted

ooo 2 days sipadan dive, no wonder so expensive, haha. i also wish to know who can be cheaper, fun, but as well safe. Probably if really want cheap can consider Uncle Chang, but I saw from FB their place got burnt down.

*Edit, just had a look at their website quotation: Ok, suggestion to bring cost down if you really want 2 days at Sipadan with Scuba Junkie. Choose to arrive day before trip to Mabul and stay in semporna, cheap lodge will do, last time their lodge cost maybe rm20-30 a night, then last day after dive also leave mabul right after diving and stay at Semporna, you will be able to save maybe RM500-600 in this manner.

If your exploring others and also found another operator with similar deals and can do 2 days Sipadan, may you also PM me? Im interested to go end of this year.

I have been to Sipadan twice, once in end Nov, once in beginning May. While May is supposed to be the better season, I enjoyed my Sipadan in end Nov more. Although this is only based on 2 times. I wish someone with more experience can advice when is generally the better period. Maybe Ukiya?  hmm.gif  hmm.gif

scuba junkie is one of the reliable dive operator in Mabul, im sure there are others.

Wanted to check out Uncle Chang as heard many good reviews, unfortunately they got into a stroke of bad luck this time..

Will be staying overnight at Semporna on day of arrival, next day 8am boat to mabul. SJ abit strict on safety, insist must do refresher cos my last dive more than 1 year ago... refresher's included in so no additional charges.

Bro if that is the case you only need 6D5N right.. or 5D4N if the last day you are ok to leave mabul at 4pm then check into Semporna for a night. Your trip so expensive also because its 2 days Sipadan trip. If only 1 day can be even cheaper..

I have not stayed in Semporna (the 2 times I there also in Mabul), based on the infomation some forummer share, it seems if you can consider staying in Semporna, it can be much cheaper.

Thanks.

That's an extra 40 mins drive one way.
I'm coming from the south, so Mersing is nearer.

40min for stability in time management. worth it kua.
Better than trying luck and have possibility of getting stuck in the ferry for 30min. cry.gif

Mersing dependent on tides. Sometimes the schedule 5:00am but tide not enough then they wait and wait.
I also heard cases where they leave earlier than scheduled. I haven't missed my ferry before but the ferry I was in did leave earlier than scheduled before.

Interestingly I have found Bluewater to be more punctual than Cata xD

Both also ok (my yardstick for ok is whether I can fall asleep or not lol).

I'm not familiar with Redand but usually on the East side of peninsular people go Perhentian, Kapas, Tenggol, Redang and Tioman. So just thought i'd ask.

Whats special about Selakan is the biodiversity at the homestay even if you snorkle. And for macros the ones i've seen people take are nudibranches.

Yalar last time return I could get RM270 to Tawau, now can't find. Then add homestay package about 1k plus depending on the number of dives. Which company did you look at for Selakan?

went to Payar in the end.
Vis was good.

couldnt find the resident seahorse ;(

Haha. I was thinking beautiful seas, surely there's a DC of some sort. But ticket was RM71 return, too cheap for me to ignore.
