Firstly, this will appear rant-ish. So rant alert.

The main topic here is GERD / silent reflux / Gastropraisis.

Summary:

Now, what happened was i went to see a GI specialist in sjmc, and the doc just simply prescribe me a PPI, motilium and gaviscon. At first he said he might do a scope, but said "why not you take this first for 1 month and come back to me if your symptom doesn't improve". Hurriedly shoo me away so he can have his lunch.

The long:

I have been having silent reflux, although just sour taste in my mouth for 2 months+ and i sendiri took PPI already. For 7 days once a day, i took it, and felt like nothing much improve. We all know all too well, sometimes it happens for a short time and my imeediate thought was just see if the meds can cure it. Nope.

Then i suddenly felt hard to eat more than few bites, went see a clinic doc and doc referred to a GI in sjmc. I no choice, went there as well, waited for 2 hours+ just so i can see the doc, and more time just for the meds to dispense.

So the doc just simply check, didn't ask much question, ignored me telling him i took PPI and antacid already, and simply just said "you may have GERD, takes out a piece of paper that has pictures and said, you cant take this, and eat more of this, and bla bla. And i said, i don't eat or do any of the NO, and i eat all the YES, but he continued to ignore me, and said i'll give you these meds, take it 1 month and and if symptom no improve come back to me.

I have my parent helped me do some of the things because i'm physically not able to. Then when finish everything and they showed me the meds, i was super duper mad. The doc gave me Rabeprazole, which when i look at it i know edi, this is like the most expensive PPI of all the PPI out there and he gave me gaviscon which i said i already have.

Anyway, if i'm feeling more frus, i'll update with more of my rant.

Well, stop ranting.

It won't get you anywhere. Do something constructive.

First, go to another cheaper hospital like Tung Shin, see another
gastroenterologist and get an endoscope to rule out cancer, etc.

You could see my schoolmate, Dr Yap Boon Hung.

You could also try traditional Chinese medicine. I see this
physician every now and then.

These two also seem to have good reviews.

If you want to save money, then go to the Chinese Medical Aid
department in Jln Davidson.

You could also try homeopathy. An experienced doctor is
Dr Tajuddin in Jln Raja Abdullah.

A good doctor would not just scope you straight away, a greedy doctor would do that since they get more money compared to just prescribing medications...

Not really, no. It will be case-to-case basis.

But specifically from OP's story, I would agree to proceed with OGDS as well due failure of medical treatment in managing the symptoms - to rule out any more sinister etiology such as hernia, taking sample for CLO test to verify presence of Helicobacter pylori or even for gross screening for gastric neoplasia.

Hi, it's been 3 years, may I know how's your situation doing now?

I saw some of the article describe this GERD as: You are living but feels like dying.

Mind share your recovery journey?

My friend suffer because of GERD everyday. 😞 .
