I think the name of iphone 8 makes sense.

U notice every time when there is a change in outlook. They call new name. Even from 6s to 7, there is only minor change on the reception stripes at the rear of the phone and non-physical Touch ID, they call it different name.

If totally not a single change in outlook like 6 to 6s, 5 to 5s, 4 to 4s, they use the name with s.
