Hi guys, i have a question, when do you guys pump your car? When reach E or ????
For me i wait till hit a bit bottom from the E Bar so i can know how much mileage i have run with full tank. One more thing is when the Fuel Bar reach E, is kinda hard/long on starting the engine, is that a common thing?
Several month ago, i went for my 3rd service at SC, the SO said is better to pump before reach E as if you always hit after E might cause fuel pump problems, is that really a truth or ????
Do you need to do this for every fill up? As long as you know how much fuel it can pump in at certain fuel level, you will know the mileage for one tank.
Example: let's say u always fill in about 35L at the mark after E, and u have travelled 700km (FC 20km/L).
Now you fill in at half tank and calculate your FC. If it returns 20km/L, everything is normal and you will still get 700km range at the mark below E, without having to really go down to that low, right?
I believe the fuel pump is centrifugal pump. The no.1 enemy of centrifugal pumps is cavitation caused by insufficient suction head. The lower the level, the lower the suction head. And do take note that in a moving car, the fuel sloshes around and this affects the suction head too.
Imagine the water tank outside our house, try having a low water level and imagine you shake it like how you drive your car.
