OK guys, I heard from my salesman the new VIOS will be launch on 24th Jan and it came with skirting for all variants. Previously they letting us choose between skirting (which needs to top up RM800) or free 1 year service but now no more free 1 year free service. It is really true all variant came with skirting because normally they won't do that. I personally hate the skirting bcoz the skirting is not really that good. Anyone has more info on the new VIOS?

no threads on the new Vios 2018?

OK this is what I know about new Vios 2019:

1. Launching date on 24th Jan 2019
2. Early bird getting free bodykit upgrade for all variants. (No more free 1 year service)
3. Some showroom already have the demo car.

I went to the showroom to see the new VIOS 2019 G Spec and here is my impression:

Pros:
1. Better looking than the on-going model (subjective)
2. Steering wheel feels great and quality
3. Leather quality is OK and comfy
4. MID is nice to have
5. Came with pre-applied tinted (not sure about the quality and spec)
6. NVH better than the on-going model (maybe it is still new)

Cons:
1. Came with bodykit (the front looks ugly IMO)
2. A lot of hard plastic. The side driver door when pressed the plastic will flex easily.
3. The center armrest is quite limited. The space utilization on the center tunnel is not great IMO.
4. Handbrake looks cheap
5. Very limited rear passenger headroom. (I am 5ft11in, it is uncomfortable where my head almost touching the roof, my hair is sweeping the roof though)
6. Center console design could be better bcoz there are a lot of empty surface which could be replace with some design or bigger buttons
7. The quality of 360 camera on the touch screen display is quite poor. Very low quality but still nice to have
8. The equipped wiper is also low quality

Overall, it is still a very good car for its price but I really hope they give us an option to exclude the bodykit. I have booked the car on last december but the bodykit really a turnoff.

Note: The car will make a beep beep sound for no reason. The salesman said the sound came from the blind spot indicator function but there was no car besides me, so weird!!! Then I saw a video saying it is because of the DVR is reminding you to insert a memory card into it, so I really wonder if the front camera unit went kaput will it triggers the beepbeep sound again.

(honda city FL current selling model's audio player)
Looks identical to vios NCP150 player, probably the bypass cable is the same ?
*
No offence but this audio player looks outdated. The new facelift HRV is using it, so disappointed.

Current Honda City FL using it also. Cost down version
*
Ya, my friend bought Jazz also equipped with this audio player. I can understand for a sub RM80K car but not on a RM110K car. The older model looks better and at least Toyota new VIOS is using a better looking one.

hi bro, u think is it worth to pay 6k for the upgrades? From what u say steering and leather quality nice, so its worth? TBH, i only care about leather interior and steering.. but those things dont have in E spec... i already ask SA if E spec wan upgrade to leather, he say need to outside install, not original  sad.gif
*
Hi there, if you want the leather seat I recommend you to do it outside because the original quality is not that good. I believe 3k can get a good one but I personally feel the G spec a better buy because you are getting more such as 360 camera, MID, etc.

So hard to choose  rclxub.gif Most things can be added, but will the cost of adding those item amount to 6k? Oh ya, forgot to add, G spec got pedal shifter, also useless for me la, since i don't drive fast in daily commute  laugh.gif If only they have cruise control, then 6k for me is justifiable. Yea, i get the point about LED headlamp, if kong, need to change whole housing, that is 1 of the reason i stay away from honda city. (plus their service center is shit) As for tire, i don't mind abit more expensive, i expect 15 inch Michelin to be around 220-250. and 16inch to be rm100 more expensive? Small matter anyway since tire only change once in 3-4 years, or 60-80k km
You are right, G spec seems to be a better buy. Any reason why u say the leather seats are not that good? Anyways, in the brochure, they say it's Perforated combination leather, not nappa, so i guess cannot compare with VW those high end car, should be same with Myvi quality leather.

i will make my deposit to the SA tmr, curently leaning towards high spec d.. duno if i have made the right choice  sweat.gif Sorry vios thread for posting my dilemma here
*
Hi congrats getting a new car. Leather seat is fine for its class so dont worry too much.

whaat, how much is the cash rebate? and where did you get the deal from? If you don't mind, can pm me the SA details?  Yeah, Silver looks very ahbeng with the bodykit, black suites it more  flex.gif But im tired of washing car d, my old car is black, if 2-3 weeks no wash sure looks like old car  sweat.gif  meanwhile, my dad and mom car silver, always look clean even though 1 month didnt wash  laugh.gif If can, i dun want the aerokit, but they force me to take  puke.gif

You can get ask for RM1000 rebate. They wont give unless u ask for it.

True. Silver looks unker/aunty when it's stock.

You've got me thinking.

Actually in Thailand or Indonesia, this is the default face.

I hate the Malaysia version with bodykit and that's one the reason I cancelled my booking. I also feel that the new version has more plastic than the predecessor and another thing of concern is the blind spot monitoring function sometimes will beep without any car beside you, which is odd. According to a reviewer, he said this blind spot function is added by TOYOTA Malaysia instead of TOYOTA itself, so not sure it is installed properly. Overall, it is still a good car for its price.

In the end decided what car?  biggrin.gif
You can just opt for a black vinyl cover then. I suggest Oracal 970 wrap from  a wrapping/tint shop.  They last for years.

I booked the CIVIC

yes! Thailand default face is much better looking

Seems like it looks weird with all white  hmm.gif
Btw, I actually asked the SA if they can remove the bodykit for me or come without body kit, and they said I have to do it outside.

Planning to remove the "X" but SA mentioned it will affect the camera?  hmm.gif
*
You can remove the body kit but got holes right? The front part also need to change to a new bumper because the one in msia is different vs thai.

Unlinke Camry.. the BSM system in the vios is quite annoying. it is locally develop according to Kon's youtube review..

If you drive along at the straight line, the blind spot light will on if detects a car in the blindspot zone, but if you flick your signal switch it will buzz if it detect a vehicle within 3-4 meters. If the speed exceed 70kmh, the range will extend up to 12 meters.

i can see its quite annoying if you just want to change lane in traffic where there are pile up of cars all the time...If there is option to off it then it would be good.

for more info, u can watch this part, starting fro 19.05 https://youtu.be/7jpsWId7bTo?t=1145
I have no comments till i get my car next month, hope its not as annoying like what the members mention here... Worse come to worse, i will just remove the fuse...
*
Yes, when I test drove it I found something wrong with the BSM. Very annoying indeed macam not implement properly.

Overall the new Vios is a pretty good car as it feels more like a C segment rather than B segment with all the bells and whistles. I guess if you are in no hurry then wait for a couple of months where UMW fixed the problems via current complaints first.
*
It is very feature rich but it still doesn't have the build quality and refinement of a C segment car.
