I don't know if yours are 1st gen NCP42, but my mother 2nd gen NCP42 stock key like the image above is absolute thrash. Each year need to buy new shell as the rubber material disintegrate when you are turning the key to start the engine. Eventually i looking for alt and found 2m2 key box.

The installation for key board are straight forward and key need to duplicate. Unfortunately, the retractable key mechanism isn't durable enough and i have to add normal key to key ring. Also over the year, the top plastic hook are broken and i use sellotape to fix it. You might be better off with flip key but i don't know if the flip mechanism are sturdy enough to last long time.

Thanks for the feedback, man ! Mine is the very first gen (2004) with cobra alarm.
I might give it a try and get a silicone cover.

The more I drive, the more I like my NCP42. :-) despite of all the part replacement.

*
Agreed with the statement. Might as well change everything while u at it.

Also, anyone here using a subframe or anti roll bar.
Looking to improve the hell out of vios handling.
Not gonna turbo and will go NA until end of time.
My vios is currently clocked 220,000++ km :-)

Does anyone here has a factory OEM 2-din radio wiring diagram for NCP42 ? I'm trying to learn more about my Vios and will try to attempt installing a aftermarket player.

Assistance and advice is much appreciated.

Thank you

bumping own request.

on another unrelated matter, my new suspension setup kept hitting my fender even on the slightest bump.
posted this issue in another forum and hopefully someone is able to assist.

I just picked up my NCP42 few days ago and the tires kept hitting the fender.
the parts that were installed for the entire suspension were:

1. APM Performax Absorber
2. APM Performax Spring
3. 250mm spacer
4. Front lower arm
5. KYB front absorber bush
6. KYB Front Absorber Mounting
7. SILICONE SATAY BUSH

its driving me crazy. its lowered and the stance is nice but hitting the fender each time is stupidly driving me nuts.

the cheapest solution
1. install spring buffer
2. install back the stock spring
3. Change to lower profile tires (do not wish to do this as i just changed 2 months ago)

any advice is much appreciated.

Why need to add spacer? Don't you think without spacer, the rim can go more inside so it will not hit the fender?
*
I was going for the 'stance' look. And u r right. The spacer might be culprit. Same feedback I got from 0to100.

I'll test your theory by end of the week and report back.

Thanks again.

Remove your spacers. You're using 195/60/R15 tyres? It rubs like hell.
*
Indeed it runs like hell. I have removed the spacer last weekend and no rubbing since then. I thought of testing till end of week and report back.

Thanks for the feedback and solution.

Also, anyone here installed a subframe braces before?
Do they serve any purpose?

I'm getting a front struts tower bar first when I get the chance.

The most you could go with chance of rubbing or full lock steering is 205 series tyres.
It is to increase rigidity your torsion beam suspension, making it flex/sway less (decreased bodyroll) during hard turns but mind you it will be bumpier across the vehicle as the balance is spread throughout the rear.

Ultra Racing has 2 types of these bars. One for roll reduction (solid bar) and another to rigidify your torsion beam (hollowed bar, with multiple install points). These thai-made "subframes" are usually milled aluminium (less rigid, tendency to crack is higher) and served a similar purpose, but it is more fancier with lesser function. It is more for cars with multi-link suspension (Persona, Preve, Wira, Civic etc).
At the moment, I'll stick to my 195 and utilize it until the next change.

So far when I searched online, there are 2 types of 'safety' bar.
1. Anti roll bar
2. Rear tower strut bar.

I believed the one u mentioned with hollowed bar is the rear strut bar.

Just wanted to know more feedback on which is the best choice for the rear.

Thank you all for advice and feedback.

That boot bar is more for racing than day to day. What I mentioned are these:
*
So anti roll bar. This bar is out of budget at the moment.
Will hunt for a front tower strut bar first.

Seems like it is the battery faulty.
My sister had asked the battery sales person to check since it is only 3 months bought the battery.
They bring back the battery to charge.
But can we just leave the car without battery?
What car setting will be lost?
For sure radio preset channel will be lost.
What else need to concern?
*
No much concern. My battery was removed for days while in workshop. Like u said, only the clock and other settings on the radio will be reset.
Also,.check the condition on the alternator. When was the last time it was overhauled, since it's a 2005 model.
Mine's a 2004

Thanks for the advice.
The alternator was never overhauled/changed.
You had changed yours?
If needed to repair/change, is it expensive?
*
i got this few days ago. its the easiest way to know your current battery status. also, this is the cheapest ones among other sellers. i bought two.
i havent actually measure it using a voltmeter but its a point of reference at the moment.

I overhauled my engine few years back and loving my vios by the day. its an old model but it has its value.

its either your sister sell the VIOS when the value is still there OR start overhauling.
if u see my post earlier on, ive change the entire suspension system.
