Your hardware is ok but your browsers are heavy. My suggestion is to try other browsers, Chrome seem to have improved and is less taxing than Chromium (last I tried). If you don't need those browsers, choose from the many other light weight ones.

QUOTE(izzatemr @ Jul 13 2017, 01:08 PM) my lubuntu use high cpu usage. especially when open forefox or chromium. Here's a suggestion, stop using firefox as your main browser at all. Firefox nowadays has already turned into a spyware ever since Soros got involved into funding their project. Don't ever use any google software. Google wares have been labeled as botnet for a reason. Use firefox forked browser such as palemoon or icecat. It's a lot faster and trust worthy software to use compared to those overrated browsers. If you want more lightweight browser, you could try uzbl which runs on webkit engine.

nowadays a lot of websites are secretly running crypto coin mining scripts. if the high cpu usage is only on certain sites then probably your cpu is mining.

QUOTE pentium 4 3.0ghz 3.5 Gb ram should use 32-bit distros e.g (linux lite) https://www.linuxliteos.com/download.php#requirements(fedora) https://torrent.fedoraproject.org/ -- note, get the i386 ones not x86_64, I use the xface-25 on my virtualbox (1 cpu core, 2GB ram, 20GB hd/storage) of course there are old standbys like damnsmalllinux/dsl and puppy but I last use them many years ago, so cannot comment This post has been edited by matsom: Dec 10 2017, 10:58 AM
