Presently I am residing in Kulim using streamyx 8mbps. There is no plan for unifi in my area in the near future. I intend to change over to DIGI Infinite 150 which is about the same cost as my streamyx. I'm new to this DIGI Infinite thingy and appreciate if you guys can guide me on the following questions:
1. All I need to do is to go over to DIGI Service centre and sign up for the Infinite 150 plan. Do I have to pay for any deposit or registration fees? Presently I'm using DIGI postpaid for my 2 hand phones.
2. With the sim card I need to insert into a 4G wireless modem, then I will be able to surf the internet, download videos without limit and share the internet with my desktop, laptops and mobile phones right? How can I connect the wireless modem to my desktop and house line phone?
3. Which is the best value for money wireless 4G modem that can be paired with the DIGI sim card? I would need to hook up by cables to 3 or 4 desktops in my house with a line phone if possible. Presently I am using TPLink modem with my 8 mbps streamyx line. How much is the 4G sim card modem?
4. How would I know what are the internet speed in my area?
Thanks

Thank you Andrewtst, Xaser_3 and alexchew_2020.
Your explanations have been most helpful. I will be looking forward to switch my slow streamyx over to Digi Infinite 150. I hope i150 don't have congestion problem resulting in slow internet as some people has claimed.

Presently I am using streamyx to hook up to my CCTV with my TPLink modem. If I switch over to i150 sim card with 4G modem with 4 port, can I still hook up one of the ports to CCTV?

Is the Huawei B618-65d router modem from TM dedicated only to their unifi sim card or can be used for other sim cards as well (like digi, maxis, xox, etc)?
How can I buy their modem without subscribing to their service?

If I subscribe for the package with TM and cancel the next day, do I have to forfeit any deposit or anything? How much are the sellers in shopee selling the Huawei B618-65d modem? How about warranty of the modem if I cancel TM the next day? This post has been edited by sharp56: May 8 2018, 01:06 PM

I just went to TMPoint Kulim and Alma. Both outlets said no more stocks for Huawei modem and probably not going to replenish them. Therefore, not selling their broadband package with this Huawei modem at present.
I guess some of the staff may have diverted them to their cronies to be sold for a "commission".
Any ideas other than to buy from their cronies? Does other telco offer this modem at similar prices?

I am a little confused about i150. I have a Tenda 4G680 sim card 4G Lte modem router which has 4 LAN ports and a phone port. Suppose I connect 3 of my ports by LAN cables to 3 computers and 1 port by LAN cable to my CCTV NVR. The telephone port to a house telephone. Other than these 4 devices I tether hotspot wirelessly to my 2 handphones and 1 tablet occasionally.
Questions:
1. Is it that the 4 devices connected LAN cables considered as data usage and the 3 wireless devices considered as hotspot? The bulk of the data usage on the LAN cables will be chinese/korea dramas downloaded from desktop.
2. There are no limits on the data, telephone calls and hotspots since the i150 plan states that there are infinite internet, calls and tethering?
3. Can the CCTV work on a digi sim card modem router? Presently my CCTV works on my streamyx modem router.
I am not sure about the above and would appreciate someone can correct my understanding on these.
If Digi can't accommodate the above devices, can unifi sim card accommodate all these devices?

QUOTE(alexchew_2020 @ Jul 20 2018, 05:42 PM) 1. LAN or wireless, if u use the internet/bandwidth it's consider hotspot. if local sharing files within few device not counted hotspot. if u use data then consider as hotspot. 2. as far as we know it's unlimited call. not for special no. if u use call often, your internet will go off/3G mode. the modem not support VoLTE. 3. some cctv only works, digi dont have private ip. Thanks for your explanation

Questions about infinite i150.
If I put the i150 sim card into my hand phone and hotspot tethering to 3 other devices it's considered 1 infinite internet and 3 infinite tethering.
If I put the i150 sim card into my sim card lte modem router even though connected with lan cables to 3 devices and hotspot to my hand phone, it is considered as 4 infinite tethering.
Is my above understanding correct?
But there is no differences as both internet and tethering are infinite, right?

Thank you guys for clearing up my doubts.
Previously, I was doubtful of the lopsided usage inclined towards tethering rather than internet because I was thinking of buying a sim card lte modem router to use with the i150 sim card. I don't think I will be able to use 1TB for tethering. So it's ok for me.
I'm a 8mb streamyx user. I'm waiting for the August 15, 2018 deadline to see what plans they have for streamyx users. If it is not attractive I'll switch over to infinite i150.
Can anyone tell me where can I buy discounted priced Huawei 618-65d modem router in other than TMpoint which I was told stocks have been depleted or recently locked?

I have just purchased Digi i150 online and it gave me an invoice no. I tried to access the self serve guide to find out the next step but it's an empty page.
Do I have to wait for the sim card to be posted to me or do I collect it from the service centre?

QUOTE(ryukick @ Sep 20 2018, 12:59 PM) Did you have to pay 2 months in advance? I can't recall but apparently you can also do it at DIGI authorized stores but must pay 2 months bill in advance..not sure if online is the same? Yes, online purchase also have to pay RM300 advance payment. Purchase at Digi authorized store, can get the sim card immediately?

Xaser_3, thanks for your answer.
Nowadays, Digi stores at shopping centres have auto payment/vending/dispensing machines. The machines could read ICs and issue sim cards at RM10 but I don't know whether these machines could register and accept Digi i150 online and issue the sim card there and then. These machines have the capability.

Both my Intel 82573L Gigabit 1000Mbps Network Card and TP-LINK AC1900 Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Card Adapter arrived yesterday.
I fixed up the TP-Link AC1900 to one of my two PCI-e slot and voila, I was able to get 150 mbps speed off my Huawei B618 modem and Digi Infinite i150. I was very happy with the result and did not bother to fix up the Intel Gigabit Network card to my computer.
The reason being I put up my B618 and CCTV receiver high up on my kitchen cabinet (most ideal place for me after shifting around several days and testing it). It is central access position to my old desktop computer, devices and four CCTV points around the house with the least obstructing walls. Thus I needed this wireless TP-Link AC1900 to hook up to my old computer and it received good signals.
I intend to put the spare Intel Network card in another computer in another house.
Coming from a streamyx user, I am more than happy with my present result. It's so eye-popping seeing my HD movie downloaded at about twenty times faster than my streamyx capped at 8 mbps.
Conclusion : Even with an old computer, one can achieve over 100 mbps if one has the right combination of modem (B618), telco access (Digi i150) and computer accessory upgrade (TP-Link AC1900). Of course you must also be lucky to have your house situated in a right place where there are strong and fast telco LTE+ signal.

QUOTE(shonglaey @ Oct 3 2018, 09:21 AM) Hi, i read some of the feedback that i150 is not able to connect to CCTV unless through VPN, is that your case? Also, which area you are in? Did you do any special setting on your B618 (65D version) or just auto configure? I am in Seremban, and the fastest i can get is around 60 Mbps, with Band 7 (CA is slightly slower around 50 Mbps) Kulim and modem B618 set to auto. As long as CCTV has P2P (most wireless modern CCTV has this feature), it will be able to connect to i150. No need VPN.
