I posted that article link earlier. I am also geting my opinion based on articles and comparisons I have read. The 525 is just the newer replacement for the older 5186, the main feature being the band lock feature. I think the 5186 can also do band lock if you know how to flash a replacement fw.

Just like the 5186, the 525 also come in diff variant. Most important get the one that support malaysian CA supported bands, i.e the 23a for the 525 model and the 22a for the 5186model.

I bought mine in April and pricing was still low that time, unlike now. So my price can't be used as reference.

B525 user here, i turn on 24/7, no heat issue. Signal wise, 2 to 4 bar. I plug with mimo antenna, always 4 bar, sometime 3 bar. Just for ur reference.

another B525 user here..so far no heat issue yet..but im not sure why my unit cannot select band through webui..my webui version 21.100.31.00.03. i saw someone post on youtube exactly like my unit but he using webui 17.100.09.00.03 and the ip address also different 192.168.9.1 instead of mine 192.168.8.1..but he can select band by using webui..

525 got 3 types. B525s-23a B525s-65a or B525s-95a

Well, not only mine, many have no issues with their E5186.

If you have time to complete reading this 200 over pages forum thread, you will find out E5186 is the only device which user gives the most faulty report.

I'm the victim of E5186. since I subscribe to digi infinite 3 months ago, I have owned 2 units of E5186. both won't last more than 2 weeks. Flashing the firmware also won't help.
lucky I have Aircard 790 to back me up. I know, A790 is weak. I still need a powerful router . I just come to know B525, would you recommend this device?

No adapter will be provided and you gotta find a thin type because it's slot in type, not tray type. If you simply use one and will destroy the pin. Talking from experience, I have destroyed few phones and MiFis that way but luckily managed to get fixer to fix back for me.

These days I will not take risk anymore. You can replace SIM card anyway.
