But you must have an up to date PC, preferably one with at least 3Ghz cpu and a graphic card n lcd display that's HDCP compliant. Of coz there's a workaround for those without HDCP compliant gfx card n display. You just need to install AnyDVD HD to remove the AACS encryptions. tongue.gif

Gfx card geforce 5200? Ermm.... unsure.gif Tapi display 27"?!! Waweeee.... shocking.gif . Eh jap, tu lcdtv ke lcd monitor? tongue.gif Or perhaps u can try dload 1080p movie trailers from Apple's website then test play. See if your system can cope up. brows.gif

If i'm not mistaken, your gfx card is not HDCP compliant. U might wanna try install PowerDVD 7.3 and check you system 1st. But that's just a small issue, u can still play with the help of AnyDVD HD utility. Should be no probs. rclxms.gif

Lcd TV la boss hehe

Last time i tried playing 720p/1080i movies, it didnt play that well, like tersekat-sekat. Tak smooth langsung. Not sure whether it's the memory or the graphic card. Maybe it's time to upgrade wink.gif

hey guys, wanna ask about dvd regions..

what i noticed is that on amazon.com, the hd dvd 'Ray' was written as Region 1..

what i picked up from coldforged.org was

"For HD-DVD movies, yes [the xbox 360 hd dvd player is region free] as are all HD-DVD players. For standard DVDs, no."

so to confirm, if i were to buy that region 1 hd dvd, i should be able to play it on the player right?

thanks guys! biggrin.gif

At the moment there are no reagion locking for HD-DVD so any discs you purchase now can be played on all players.

There's quite a number of us with the add-on player including me. If you have a HDTV you'll definitely see an improvement in picture quality over normal DVD. Once you've experience HD movies, you'd never want to go back to normal DVDs thumbup.gif

As for the movies, most of us here buy them from amazon.com since it's much cheaper compared to getting them from local shops. There's one shop in Cineleisure and one in Bangsar Village that is selling those movies.

What's the point of having HD-DVD if the movie night scene still full of noise?

What's the point of nitpicking at the worst aspect of a movie?

At the end of the day, HD-DVD are superior to normal DVD. Period.

Aye. Couldn't agree more.

While we're on the topic of HD-DVD, the Tosh HD-DVD players are starting to make their appearance here in this part of the world.

Arj, any models have popped up in Malaysia? Here in Hong Kong, Toshiba just launched their E1 model, retailing at HK$3,980. The XE1 should be here soon too.

Last time I checked there was none that you can get off the shelves. Need to order them from speciality AV shops. I guess the market for such items here are very very small sweat.gif
