QUOTE(kamilnu @ Oct 25 2017, 09:45 AM) Lets be real here. O&G is dead and buried. Hybrid cars are popping up one by one. There's not much oil left in this country also. People are optimistic bcos they wanna feed their insecurities......keep the hope alive kinda thing. I think you did not know what you were talking about. Ignoramus? Enough said.

Last Friday, it hit US$60 a barrel for the first time in more than two years, in the latest sign the market is recovering after a three-year glut. The global oil and gas industry is reportedly hiring more people than letting go for the first time in three years."unquote.

QUOTE(feekle @ Nov 2 2017, 04:33 PM) Just hit 60 & start hiring? wow...no long term evaluation first? Most likely they are hiring ppl on contract basis. Nothing out of ordinary. Actually PACs put on hold most brown field/ retrofit works on the platforms due to freezing of “non urgent” OPEX related works. After 3 years of inactivity the backlog retrofit works have become unbearable that are beginning to affect the operation of the platforms. They have to kick start the works to repair whatever facilities that need to be repaired/replaced urgently. So I’m not surprised to see increase of retrofit works in the next 6-9 months. QUOTE(Lubis @ Nov 6 2017, 11:17 AM) So? Client budget still at USD40. Wait for next year’s budget; the company I’m working with is rumoured to increase budget based on USD 50. Hope PCSB does it better. They have plenty development projects put on hold since the fall of the crude oil price. This post has been edited by Stamp: Nov 7 2017, 08:40 PM

QUOTE(meonkutu11 @ Nov 7 2017, 09:04 AM) Shell out with tender for ultra-deepwater rig MALAYSIA: Shell has issued a tender for a deepwater floater for a drilling campaign off Malaysia in 2018. The tender is understood to be a follow-up to a inquiry into a ultra-deepwater rig to cover an exploration and development scope off Sabah, Malaysia. The tender scope covers four firm wells, understood to be for a development programme for Gumusut Kakap 2 (GK 2) project, plus four one-well options. In the market survey, Shell indicated the GK2 development drilling scope would cover a duration of around 200 days. Commencement is targeted for June-August, 2018. Shell also requested in the survey for an MPD-capable, DP2 floater with offline capability that can drill in water depths of 1,371-2,514 m (4,500-8,250 ft). Bids are due on 1 December. 06-Nov-2017 Oh GK2 finally going into development phase!

QUOTE(McF7y @ Nov 8 2017, 09:24 AM) Hello all, Just curious, anyone know if International Petroleum Corporation (IPC) which is a spin-off company from Lundin, has an office in KL/Malaysia? QUOTE(Rodimus_Prime @ Nov 8 2017, 08:58 AM) Whether you choose to believe or not. I am not supersound. My point here is this, if you are a company investing billions of dollars in this country, are you not even entitled to hire who you think is the best person for a job? Who are "you" to tell us who to hire, how to hire, what race/religion to hire, etc. Obviously some racist SOBs thinks they can impose and force their distorted version of reality onto others. From a company perspective, there are always other less restrictive/racist places to invest. Put in simple for you; when you are in Rome do what the Roman does. So if you want to operate in Malaysia, you need to adhere to the minimum local hiring requirements. Tepuk dada tanyalah selera!

QUOTE(McF7y @ Nov 8 2017, 01:20 PM) Yea, been a bit of an odd few years lately. Some field operators have left, others came back...some in midst of selling off assets etc. Heard HESS’ planning an exit strategy within 4 years. When I asked a friend in HESS, he was like “WTF?”. 😁

QUOTE(Jonraj5 @ Nov 15 2017, 05:54 PM) hi what are the chances of getting hired by Petronas Carigali, if apply directly to their hr? I guess shouldn't hope too much and keep trying other places? You’ve answered your own question.

Simple explanation.
MMHE already got the EPC of CPP Bokor, another float over type of a platform.
BN wants to retain Perak in the next GE 14.
Hence Lumut based Sapura’s the logical choice as well as a politically correct choice to be the recipient of the CPP Pegaga contract.
Ta daaaaa.

QUOTE(mhyug @ Nov 20 2017, 04:34 PM) biasa la tuh. no such thing as tender 'telus'. you go any country also will aways have greasing the wheel system'. someone always profits from others and vice versa. goes round in circles. Most new wellhead platforms in SK waters EPC Contracts are “lined up” to be awarded to the Sarawak fabricators. One Penaga wellhead is going to one of them. Another 2 wellheads (Sapura E) & 1 Shell wellhead both in SK waters are most likely going to the same Kuching fabricator. Other fabricators can only gigit jari, AGAIN!

QUOTE(McF7y @ Nov 22 2017, 10:52 AM) Hahaha, pesky neighbour? Oceanmight or KKB then? I'm not too familiar with Sarawak fabricators to be honest, but we have participated in a few bids with BD lately, mainly for Anjung and Bokor. Oceanmight tu adik KKB ler...... “sama bapak lain emak”. Dengar OMSB pernah kena kencing dgn BD. So the company berdendam nak “kuburkan” BD. But one of BD’s directors ada bau-bau durian dgn CM Sarawak. Ironic eh? This post has been edited by Stamp: Nov 22 2017, 09:32 PM

QUOTE(mohdyakup @ Nov 22 2017, 10:48 PM) BD is a state owned GLC of Sarawak, protected under state act Article 54. BD is a corporation since 1912, no way can easily wipe out. \ Same as PDA, instituted by Parliament Act. It's not easy for Petros to get around the Act.

QUOTE(bohtakchinalways @ Nov 24 2017, 11:57 AM) Weird old news "March 9, 2017 - 140 of 176 North Korean workers in Sarawak without work permit" Sarawakian dont mind North Koreans who were mainly involved in the construction and mining sectors. But sarawakians willing to ban oil and gas workers from other malaysian states? Sarawak can hire Eskimos to work in Sarawak if they want. Malaysia is ironic, one country but different immigration laws for Malaya and its Borneo “associates “. This post has been edited by Stamp: Nov 24 2017, 12:40 PM

QUOTE(mohdyakup @ Nov 24 2017, 08:24 PM) Well, the peoples from North Korea entering Sarawak because one of the company having a big shot partner from Peninsular doing a business in Sarawak and they try to cut short things around, not only in Bau, happening in Bintulu too. I dont want to tell much due to sensitivity, how I know? One of my family member is the Immigration Officer hehe. So I malaslah maok drag this Immigration things as enshrined in 18/20 matters, and other things too. I kepak maok deal with this politic actually. So I better mind my own things jak lah. Hehe. PDA was a Parliament act, enshrined as the country’s executive order.

QUOTE(mhyug @ Nov 28 2017, 09:08 AM) HR asks for salary history / payslip. should we share? I've read that a good HR dont need your salary history to come up with a good package and only reason they want this is to lowball the offer. verifying your salary or comparing what you stated as your target is another thing but do they need your past salaries for that when they know for sure whats the market worth at the time. so should we provide them with it or politely decline and see what happems after that? hope the otais can help me on this. pm's are also welcomed. im kinda stumped on how to reply them back when they start quoting 'you share salary on loan application bla bla' I would politely decline to provide my payslip to the recruiter. I would say, it is a P&C document, and I would tell the recruiter to give me the offer instead.
