There’s another well known problematic bumi oil&gas company, Arma*a TP*E, which renegades in paying staff salaries for months.

I wonder how the CEO sleeps at night knowing his staff and their families are scrambling for every crumbs of the breads to survive. What a prick!
*
My colleague from there. It seems they really underquote one job from a foreign operator (which bought a field in Tganu). From that, their losses started. Lot of their staff left tat company and their miri project got pulled away if not mistaken (this one under NOC).

Morning everyone! I'm studying applied geology and going for industrial training next semester. Let's say I'm given a choice of working at CGG and Petra Energy, which one is a better choice for me?
As for CGG, i heard from my senior that they would probably take you as a full time after the internship as they will train you during the internship. I will be doing seismic processing at CGG, according to my lecturer if you work as a full timer you will probably  not getting the chance to transfer to other department and will be facing computer all the time to process the data.
Working at offshore is my dream, is Petra a better choice? Glad to hear any opinions...
*
Petra is a fabricator right and hook up contractor??? It's not related to your field.

Now job hopping must be with caution; i.e. look at the next company's financial statement and their order intake.

Hi, I'm attending interview with Repsol Oil & Gas (formerly known as Talisman) next week.

Do any of you all know how's the work life there? How are their bonus scheme payout (e.g. 1 month compulsory bonus on December & performance bonus on April)?

Hope my request of 30% hike of my previous salary is not too much to ask.
*
My personal believe. If they don't offer you the 30% don't walk.!! Get another firm who is willing to offer you.

I'm waiting Bumi Armada year 2018 financial report.. so far the CEO manage to turn the company into profit in year 2017..

Not sure if clients buy into financial report when the news about them is widespread...

Example: 2018 almost surely net loss.

As a result of this second round of impairment charges, Bumi Armada registered a net loss of RM502.83mil for the third quarter, ballooning the group’s year-to-date net loss to RM1.04bil

PETALING JAYA: Petronas has denied allegations it gave preferential treatment to a firm believed to be linked to a former Umno division leader, and said it had lodged reports with the relevant authorities.

However, it did not specify the allegations or name the site that published the allegation.

A check, however, showed that Sabahkini2.com had carried allegations against the national oil company and implicated a former Umno division leader in a posting yesterday.

A report carried in Sabahkini2.com alleged that a firm linked to the politician had received preferential treatment from Petronas.

It said the former Umno division leader was an independent non-executive chairman of the firm.

“With reference to malicious allegations contained in a post in an unverified online site, Petronas wishes to state in the strongest terms that the allegations are unsubstantiated and untrue.

“Petronas maintains the highest standards of corporate governance and transparency in all our business dealings and we will not hesitate to take action against anyone who continues to malign the reputation and integrity of the company or its people.

“Petronas has filed reports with the relevant authorities in regard to the posting and we leave the matter to the authorities for their further action,” it said in a statement today.

Yes almost 200 got VSS late last year. I just met a friend working in Bumiarmada yesterday. He doubted that the company would be invited for future bids unless it could get out of its current financial distress.

Yes. My friend too has been vss from there and not many left in project team.

Financial statements form part of proposal qualifications.. Hence bad press might impact it.

http://www.mcdermott-investors.com/news/pr...ia/default.aspx HOUSTON, Feb. 5, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- McDermott International, Inc. (NYSE: MDR) today announced it has signed a contract with Woodside Energy Ltd. to undertake a front-end engineering and design activities for a floating production unit (FPU) for the Scarborough field gas development in Western Australia.

McDermott's center of excellence in The Hague, Netherlands, will lead the study and early engineering. Upon completion, the contract includes the option to progress to an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract should the project be approved for full development by Woodside and its Scarborough joint venture partners.

"Woodside is a key customer of our Company, and it is therefore outstanding to see such an important project leveraging off McDermott's global capabilities," said Ian Prescott, McDermott's Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific. "In partnering with Woodside on the front-end engineering and design study, we will use our best-in-class engineering know-how and project execution expertise to ensure successful delivery of the project."

The FPU processes natural gas, which includes gas separation, dehydration and compression as well as Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG) regeneration and water handling. The topside will be designed for a production capacity of 7-9 metric tons per annum and will be placed on a semi-submersible hull in 2,952 feet (900 meters) water depth. The FPU will be remotely operated and minimally manned.

The Scarborough gas field is located approximately 236 miles (380 kilometers) off the Burrup Peninsula in the Northwestern Shelf of Australia and contains 7.3 trillion cubic feet of natural gas reserves. The development covers 12 daisy-chained subsea wells to be tied back to a semisubmersible FPU located at the Scarborough field, with onshore processing on the Burrup Peninsula.

The award will be reflected in McDermott's first quarter 2019 backlog.

A former executive at oil services company Petrofac has pleaded guilty to bribery in connection with payments to secure contracts worth more than $4 billion in Middle Eastern countries.

Briton David Lufkin, 51, ex-global head of sales for Petrofac International Ltd, admitted 11 counts of bribery following payments made by Petrofac of more than $50 million.

He was accused of acting with a number of other Petrofac employees including Marwan Chedid, the group’s former chief operating officer. Announcing its results last year, the company said that Mr Chedid was leaving to “pursue other interests”.

The payments influenced the award of contracts to Petrofac worth more than $730 million in one country and more than $3.5 billion in another, said the UK’s Serious Fraud Office (SFO) which is investigating the case. Lufkin will be sentenced at a later date.

The SFO said that its investigation into Petrofac’s use of agents in jurisdictions including these two countries was continuing.

The agency started its inquiry in 2017 as part of a wider investigation into Monaco-based oil and gas consultancy Unaoil. Petrofac said last year that it expected its senior management to be interviewed as part of the SFO investigation.

News of the guilty pleas triggered a near 30 per cent fall on Thursday in the shares of the London-listed oil and gas company.

Petrofac said that no current board member of Petrofac Ltd is alleged to have been involved, the company said in a statement.

“The SFO has chosen to bring charges against a former employee of a subsidiary company,” the company’s chairman René Médori said in a statement.

“It has deliberately not chosen to charge any group company or any other officer or employee. In the absence of any charge or credible evidence, Petrofac intends as a matter of policy to stand by its employees.”

Petrofac, which has 12,750 employees, operates out of seven operational centres.
