Hello,

I plan to buy TL-WPA4530 KIT, which comes with TL-PA4020P and TL-WPA4530 itself.

Few questions:
1. My house is a 3-phased wiring. Will this powerline work? or it only work on the same phased wiring? e.g. Phase 1 to Phase 1. Phase 1 to Phase 2 won't work.
2. If I want more adapters, is it as easy as buying another unit of TL-WPA4530 and pair/WPS it? Can I use other cheaper TP-LINK adapter? e.g. TL-WPA4220 model for my Room 2?

Thanks in advanced.

So for 3 phase, do I need to ensure the powerlink adapter is on the same electrical phase wiring?

Ya. For example, First floor can use powerline only at first floor.

Just experience in my school.

When the first floor got short-circuited then the 2nd and the 3rd floor still lit up ( Got Electricity ).

Now I understand 3 phased wiring may not work. But just would like a confirmation if it can't work entirely, or if the adapter is placed on the same phase wiring, will it work?

Thanks - do you have any recommendation of TP-LINK adapter if I want to get a few? The TL-WPA4530 KIT already comes with TL-WPA4530 adapter. Do you have any other recommendation of other adapter that can be paired with TL-PA4020P?

On same phase it wil work..different phase can not..
but using phase coupler u may use it on different phase..
Or u can try using the new Powerline AV2 MIMO where it use all three line(earth, neutral, live) to send data..

Refer the few last post on the thread..

Not true. It works for me on 3-phase.

Signal quality is better if connected to the same phase. On different phase, a slight but unnoticeable degradation in signal.

My house is also same condition as described above. When 1st floor has short-circuited, but 2nd and 3rd floor still with electricity. I can see there are 2 power boxes (1 at 1st floor and 1 at 2nd floor). Does it mean my house wiring is with 3-phase?

Then powerline is not working for my house?

Thanks in advance for those who can reply.

Powerline doesn't work for 3-Phase Wiring.
Because the electrical is connected on the same wire to all.

Normally 3-Phase wiring have 2 boxes. One in the store room on the 1st floor and one near the staircase on the 2nd floor.
My school is a three story building.
One time our class on the 1st floor short-circuit.
We know that upstairs didn't get short-circuit as the Wi-Fi Router signal still switched on.

Thanks.

Thank for replying.
Initially I thought 3 phase is for those consume high capacity of electricity like shops, factory, supermarket and etc.
My house is 3 storey terrace house, why it is 3 phase wiring? How to ensure that it is 3 phase wiring?

no, not sure if your house is 3-phase or not,.
but very sure your 1st,2nd, 3rd floor is using different Circuit Breakers ,so , homeplug/powerline may NOT working...

You might as well go buy/find at Garage those routers eg DIR842 and use it as repeater is even more effective since yours is 3 storey.

Just an update:
I had bought the TL-WPA4530 KIT, and an additional TL-WPA4530. So far it works on the power outlets that I had tried and my house has a 3-phased wiring. While it works great, but the wifi speed doesn't match with the speed on my main router. I don't think this is an issue with the powerlink itself as they are capable of supporting it; most probably it is the quality of my wiring that delivers the data transmission.

the newer AV will work on 3 phase wirings, the AV2 i have does because it clams to connect on ground too. 3 Phase wirings are connected via neutral and ground, but for best performance you want it on the same phase, so its more of a question of how much for just a connectivity rather than bandwidth which might be better suited for wifi perhaps in price?
