Around 25 years old

Is age really a big matters

take 320i , its cheap, e 90 is very modern.

maintenance is subjective. expensive vs japanese, yes. expensive vs proton, maybe not, cause proton keep changing cheap parts.

i just bought a w203, though. but i look at the pricing, bmw is cheaper. plus bmw performance is better. i went for the comfort instead. but i am 12 years ahead of you, so merc is fine.

if you really really want to own one. you need to do one thing first. read and learn about the car. love the car and know where to source to service, and if problem occur. what should you do, and how much does it cost. then your brain, wont suddenly say. wah, like that meh?

most ppl buy car for the sake of showing off to their family and friends i also got one. because my family dont approve i can buy?

Hmmm why 230k . I got one also. Taking car next week.

Why not take BMW. You mentioned. You are 25 right. Take 320i and it's a younger car. 230k is all 2005 in the market. Been around a few places to find the car.

Can ask have you seen any unit?. Btw. C230k it's quite rare. So not many in the used market. I went through a few came down to 2 cars that are still great in condition.

Yes definitely

Never buy new , biggest regret

Get a low mileage Pre reg / used local car

The smartest way to save some money but still get the same product.

Honda maintenance costs also quite pricey

agree. not cheap though, but at least you got the warranty for the new car.

but the ride and handling, nothing is comparable to bmw and merc. ver different.

but the poison on the contis are once you feel them they are hard to turn back.

Oh Still quite high .
That why I keeping another cars just in case for this type of maintenance costs

so you need to learn and ask where to source for what material or parts for your lovely conti ride. you need to know the lubang.

if you have a bunch of friends doing so, that would be perfect.

BTW. Loving my C230K, just took it yesterday, from a Hyundai Accent to a C230K, its a world apart.

But i am still keeping my accent. still love my accent.

If you find a good condition used car you can spare less than that.

In 2014 I bought an old Merc SLK 230k (first gen), after 39 mths owning it I spent about RM14.5k on maintenance cost so far, running cost (RT, ins, tyres, car polish etc) excl petrol about RM11.4k and upgrade cost (wheel upgrade, bodykits, wind deflater) about RM4k.

So, it's all about down to homework, read up forum to know the common problems, and knowing the right place to find the parts and right prices for the parts.  Of course a bit of luck as well that you don't get a lemon.

bro, can kindly share where you get these lubangs?

haha I am from JB, the lobangs don't help you a single bit lar.

I get new parts (most of the time OEM) for consumer parts like cabin filter, mountings, etc.  For body parts or speical sensors I will go chop shops.  For the hydraulic cylinders for the retractable hard top I got it dismantled by local workshop and couriered to USA for refurbished wink.gif

For you W203 C230k 1.8 litre, if you are to overhaul the timing chain with sprockets, you may consider make a trip to SG to buy the parts, much cheaper there due to no custom duty.  As the parts alone can cost > RM5k, definitely worth to make a trip to SG.

Great advise. Thanks man
