Depends on what u like to shoot. If u're not sure yet, stick with the kit lens.

Sony have plenty of lenses for different requirements.

Maybe the Sony 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 OSS is the one you are looking for.

Here is a list of lens for a6300 and their purposes.

1) Sony 18-105mm f4 OSS for travel or portrait. Weight about 0.43 kg
2) Sony 10-18mm f4 OSS for wide angle. Weight about 0.22 kg
3) Sony 35mm f1.8 for portrait. Weight about 0.16 kg
4) Sony 55-210mm f4.5-.63 OSS for telephoto. Weight about 0.35 kg
5) Sigma 19mm f2.8 for wide angle. Weight 0.14 kg
6) Song 18-200mm f3.5-6.3 OSS all-in-one multipurpose. Weight 0.52 kg
7) Sony 50mm f1.8 for portrait. Weight 0.2 kg
8) Sigma 60mm portrait lens. Weight 0.18 kg

I personally not much in video recording so can't tell much about it.

But for video recording, I guess you will need a lens equip with image stabilization system, quiet motor and smooth turning focus rings which make the recording a breeze.

Perhaps this Sony PZ 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS could be an ideal choice. hmm.gif

Maybe other users can share their thoughts too.

By the way, if you just consider the video resolution then it is the camera body ability not the lens anymore.

This camera already able to support his format .

Just the to know which camera can deliver clearer or smoother image . And as above mentioned , more quiet and image stabilisers

A6300's video is way better. The detail is even richer than A7S II due to more pixels for downsampling (A6000 doesn't have that.). You also gain access to Log profile, so the dynamic range is better. smile.gif
The 18-105 and 18-200 zoom / focus noise are fine for video. The kit lens is audible if you use the internal mic.

Since a6300 doesnt have in body stabilisation, get the native Sony lens that has OSS as these:

Sony 18-105mm f4 OSS - much more versatile focal length
Sony 10-18mm f4 OOS - this is a very famous wide angle lens for still shots & video purposes
Sony 35mm 1.8 OSS - you will need 1 50mm equivalent focal length for video also
Sony 16-70m f4 OSS

Since you mention a6300 is way better , how about a5100 to a6000 ?

Cause if u mention this way , I think will look a used a5100 then get a OSS lens , then only skip a6000 and upgrade to a6300

A5100 and A6000 has identical video recording performance. smile.gif
The LCD might be a turn down when shooting under bright sun, so A6000 comes with EVF to cater such situation.

At this moment, A6500 is the only E-mount body with IBIS, which is good for FE lenses. Others rely on lens-based stabilization. However, according to dpreview, A6500 + OSS lens doesn't deliver extra stop of stabilization over solely lens-based or body-based stabilization.

advantage of a5100 over a6000 is the 180deg tilting screen for selfie, & cheaper smile.gif
