Different consumer category.
Camry buyers would hardly consider an Optima GT. And people looking at the Optima GT will generally not be interested in the Camry Hybrid.
It's a totally different crowd. I'm part of a few car groups and the types of personalities are quite evident. I think the GT is fair value for money around the 170k range considering the competitors.

Generally, they type of guys I see who bought the GT, if they had to choose another car I feel most of them would gravitate towards the Mazda 6 instead of the Camry.

Couldn't agree more. Then follow by RV bashing and brand royalist... cool2.gif
I see GT position is rather unique. For that price you hardly get a sedan with such output and style. Anything more would easily go beyond the 200k mark. Albiet I'm a bit put off by lack of some features. After forking out 180k, I wouldn't want to spend more on aftermarket mod/ enhancement.

The year end promo is really tempting.

Out of curiosity, what aftermarket mod are you thinking of?

I need Waze on the head unit. So I need some sort of connectivity from phone. The stock HU have to go.
Other than that its just some cosmetic mod.

biggrin.gif that just spoiled the awesome dashboard look.
I need the voice alert play thru the car stereo. And when prompt comes in, music playback will cross-fade; resume after call, etc.

Keep in mind that some GT owners like myself are on Kia's Value5 plan. Meaning I don't intend to sell it on the open market, but to trade in 5 years down the road for an even better GT model. I think the guaranteed amount is RM88k for the GT after 5 years so I'm not sweating over shit resale value. That's for other brands to worry about.

KV5 is a deal breaker (for me). But it's only available as limited promo, and already ended, IINM. Hope they'll do it again.

Do they provide any written doc to support what they claim for KV5?

We will get a certificate to confirm our enrolment into the program. I'm still waiting for mine but my dealer has confirmed I am in.

I thought KV5 is still active. I think instead of speculating, since it's the Picanto launch, better if someone can just drop in to confirm then update here.

Thanks for replying. They listed it as ended promo: http://www.kia.com/my/util/promotion.detai...752&articleNo=2

Will check with SA if it is still on-going.

Cheers! Do let us know if it is.
Mazda 6 feels like it handles better around the twisty roads.
For long range cruising, the GT is in it's element.

Text SA, just said still available.

Hopefully they will introduce GT variant... sometime... in the future. LOL
1.6T with such size is really sad. That's the same one in elantra sport if not wrong

Before Stinger, there is still K7 if you want to say 'segmenting', so, K5 is still, no where near Stinger...

I’m very happy with Pioneer AppRadio. Gone thru 7 gen of phones and it is still working today. Will probably stick to them. Already found all the parts I need. Front plate, harnesses, steering control modules. Saving up before make the move.

I’ve done it for my old car. So shouldn’t be hard. Just can’t be sure how it turn out for the shortcut buttons below the air vents.

The mentality is similar like this :

Sell at MSRP = gila one, korean car so expensive
Sell at some discount = aiya....wait la.....sure got further discount later.....
Sell at further discount = huh...discount so much....sure something not right, better get something more "safe"
*
I had some good laugh there. While some still whining and waiting for miracle to happen, I’m happy driving the car

Should just bring in the 1.6T launched recently. But looking at how "fast" they bring in models, maybe in 2 years time...

The 2nd batch of GTs cannot connect to Android Auto via Bluetooth. The updated firmware will allow this functionality. I'll have a better view of this once I've done it.

No intention to replace the HU.

Sorry to bring back old post. But have you gotten the update? Now I saw 2018 model came with Apple Carplay and Android Auto!! I wonder it's a firmware or totally different HU.
