Tiemoue Bakayoko and Michy Batshuayi Twitter exchange sends Chelsea fans into a frenzy
Default author imageMark Brus for Metro.co.ukThursday 13 Jul 2017 11:58 pm

Chelsea fans up late on Twitter tonight have been sent into something of a frenzy after an emoji-based exchange between Blues striker Michy Batshuayi and Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The France midfielder has long been expected to complete a big-money move to Stamford Bridge this summer, but the deal has been held up due to a combination of fitness problems and rumours of interest from Manchester United.
However, progress looks to have been made over a deal in the last couple of days, with reports claiming Bakayoko was nearing a £40million transfer and set to undergo a medical.

Chelsea fans are growing impatient after a frustrating summer in the transfer market so far, and Batshuayi seemingly shares their frustration after tweeting Bakayoko for an update.
Communicating almost entirely in emojis, Batshuayi opened the dialogue with the ‘eyes’ emoji, with Bakayoko responding with a grin.

Batshuayi then wrote back with three emojis showing someone signing a piece of paper with a pen, followed by a question mark and an embarrassed face, to which Bakayoko responded with a face with its mouth zipped.

The pair then wished each other goodnight, with Bakayoko making an effort to send his message in English, perhaps following his travelling around with a phrase book suggesting he was preparing for a move to the UK.
Chelsea fans are unsurprisingly excited to see one of their players communicating with one of their top targets, suggesting an announcement may be imminent.

12.25: Chelsea have won the race to sign Real Madrid star Danilo.

The full back is expected to make the £28m move to west London.

Antonio Conte is ramping up his recruitment drive after finally agreeing a fee with Monaco for Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Last week Chelsea completed the signing of Antonio Rudiger from Roma.

Bakayoko should be next in and is scheduled for a medical tomorrow.

And Danilo could be next after submitting a £28m bid to Real Madrid.

The Daily Mirror report that Conte wants the deal done by next week so he can join the players on their tour of Asia.

10.30: Stoke manager Mark Hughes has confirmed his interest in signing Kurt Zouma and is "very hopeful" about agreeing a loan deal for the Chelsea defender.

It has been reported that Zouma will sign a new contract with his parent club before immediately being sent out on loan, with Blues boss Antonio Conte eager for the 22-year-old to get more Premier League experience under his belt.

Hughes acknowledges that Stoke face competition to sign the centre-back, Press Association Sport understands that West Brom are also keen, but he is confident of bringing Zouma to the bet365 Stadium on a season-long deal.

"There is genuine interest. We'd like to make it happen if we can," Hughes told the Sentinel following Wednesday night's pre-season friendly against Young Boys in Switzerland.

"The boy himself has to make a decision. We are one of many interested parties but we're very hopeful. We're still doing a number of deals."

09:10: Chelsea have agreed a fee with Monaco for Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The Monaco midfielder will now undergo a medical and complete the transfer.

According to the Times the fee will be £39.8m plus add ons.

Bakayoko will now fly to England to do his medical tomorrow.

08.40: Tiemoue Bakayoko's brother seems to have confirmed the Monaco star's move to Chelsea on Snapchat.

Abdoulaye Bakayoko posted an image of a black background along with the caption CFC, accompanied by the blue dot and strong arm emojis.

Chelsea and Monaco are believed to have reached an agreement for the France international in the region of £40million.

And fans have already been bombarding the Blues twitter account, demanding the 22-year-old's signing be announced by the club.

Chelsea and Liverpool in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang transfer battle
Default author imageGOSSIP
Mark Brus for Metro.co.ukThursday 13 Jul 2017 10:50 pm

Chelsea and Liverpool look to be in direct competition for the £65million transfer of Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.
The Gabon international scored 40 goals last season to attract interest from a number of top clubs this summer, and has most recently been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

However, it now looks as though they could face competition from Liverpool, who have also reportedly made contact with Dortmund over signing the 28-year-old.
It could even be that the Reds are surprisingly in pole position to land Aubameyang due to their connections with Dortmund through manager Jurgen Klopp.

The German tactician spent seven years in charge of Dortmund and signed Aubameyang from Saint-Etienne in 2013, though his best form has arguably come under his successor Thomas Tuchel.
Still, The Sun claim Liverpool have been sounding out Dortmund over a move for their top scorer since April, and may be ahead of Chelsea in the running due to Antonio Conte’s struggles in this summer’s transfer market.
The Blues boss is facing a fight to land a number of his top targets, having already missed out on Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, and needs to resolve Diego Costa’s future before a replacement can be brought in.

The Spain international is widely expected to move back to former club Atletico Madrid, but the deal seems to be dragging on, possibly due to some desire from the player himself to get revenge on Conte for the manner in which he told him he would be leaving.
Meanwhile, Chelsea also look set to miss out on Real Madrid front-man Alvaro Morata, meaning Aubameyang may be their best hope of bringing in real quality up front this summer.

Chelsea Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Leonardo Bonucci's AC Milan Move
GIANNI VERSCHUEREN
JULY 14, 2017

Reported Chelsea and Manchester City transfer target Leonardo Bonucci is said to be closing in on a shock move from Juventus to rivals AC Milan.

Speculation surrounding Bonucci increased dramatically on Wednesday, with multiple Italian outlets reporting he was on the verge of a move to the Italian fashion capital. Per Calciomercato (h/t Metro's Coral Barry), the defender has already agreed to personal terms, and his agent Alessandro Lucci told Sportitalia (via Barry) negotiations regarding the exit have begun.

The report adds the shock deal would be worth £35 million, a relatively low return for one of the world's best defenders and a player who signed a new contract just last season. BeIN Sports' Matteo Bonetti was as shocked as just about every other reporter:

Matteo Bonetti ✔ @TheCalcioGuy
If Juve were to sell Bonucci to Milan, it'd be one of the most bizarre transfers in world football recently. Talk about a pendulum swing
9:00 PM - 13 Jul 2017

The 30-year-old previously played for Inter Milan, where he enjoyed part of his youth career and his professional start, so he would be spurning the fans of two different clubs by joining the Rossoneri.

According to the report, Bonucci has no interest in leaving Italy, ruling out Chelsea and City and explaining why Milan might be able to land him for such a relatively small fee.

Juventus fans were none too happy when they found out, and neither was Bleacher Report's Adam Digby:

It's certainly one of the oddest rumours of the summer window, and with the agent weighing in on the matter, Bonucci could well be a Milan player before the end of the week. Juventus have tons of young talent ready to step up, but losing the Italy international would still be a huge blow.

Chelsea have already addressed their defensive concerns by signing Antonio Rudiger, but manager Antonio Conte will perhaps be a little disappointed at the timing and the fact he couldn't bring Bonucci to Stamford Bridge.

Antonio Conte tells Chelsea to make big bid to sign top 23-year-old striker – report
Chelsea are ready to make a big-money bid to sign Andrea Belotti from Torino this summer, according to reports

By Transfer Agent
Friday 14 July 2017, 00:15 UK

Chelsea are ready to make a big-money bid to sign Andrea Belotti from Torino, according to reports in Italy.

Italian newspaper La Stampa, as quoted by Metro, is claiming that Antonio Conte has told Chelsea chiefs to make a move to try and bring the 23-year-old Belotti to Stamford Bridge this summer.

It is a move that could prove expensive for the Blues, because the striker is thought to have a release clause of around £88m in his current contract with the Serie A side.

However, the same report claims that Chelsea are ready to make a bid close to that amount as Conte looks to bring in attacking reinforcements this summer.

It is also claimed that Torino are trying to seal a deal for a replacement for Belotti by closing in on the signing of Duvan Zapata from Napoli.

Chelsea have been forced to look elsewhere for a new striker this summer after the Blues missed out on the chance to sign Romelu Lukaku, who ended up joining Manchester United this week.

The Blues are looking to bolster their attacking options this summer as Conte prepares for his second season in charge at the west London club.

DAN DEALS Chelsea have bagged £31m Danilo and still want to add Alex Sandro to their ranks as boss Antonio Conte deals double transfer blow to former club Juventus
First Conte wants to see off his former club for the Real Madrid right-back before making another swoop for Alex Sandro, according to reports

CHELSEA firstly want to see off Juventus in the race for Real Madrid ace Danilo, before going back in for Old Lady star Alex Sandro.

Antonio Conte has struck a deal with the European champions for right-back Danilo, 25.

Danilo is heading to Chelsea in a £31m deal from Real Madrid

Danilo has been one of Antonio Conte’s priorities as the Italian wanted to sure up Chelsea’s defence
And, according to The Mirror, the club are set to tear out another page of their chequebook with the capture of the £31million man before they head out to the Far East.

Conte has already missed out on signing Romelu Lukaku, who has headed to Manchester United in a £75m deal from Everton.

And the Italian wants to add Tiemoue Bakayoko to his ranks, with the Monaco midfielder’s transfer being held up by recent knee surgery.

But Conte also wants former Porto left-back Alex Sandro to join Chelsea, with the club unable to agree a fee with Juventus over the flying left-back.

Even though Sandro, 26, is keen on joining Stamford Bridge, Juve will be wary that they have just lost an attacking full-back in Dani Alves to PSG.

Sandro is valued by the Serie A winners at £70m, which would be a world record for a defender.

BELGIAN IN BLUE Chelsea starlet Charly Musonda set for bigger role this season after Antonio Conte hands him No 17 shirt
Despite strong links to leave The Blues this summer, the Belgian youngster has been handed a squad number ahead of the new term
GOSSIP
By Joe Miles
11th July 2017, 1:58 pm

CHARLY MUSONDA has been awarded a shirt number within Antonio Conte’s squad, despite rumours linking him with Celtic.

The youngster will wear Eden Hazard’s old No 17 shirt next season, which suggests his position at Stamford Bridge is permanent.

The youngster returned to Stamford Bridge from his loan spell from Real Betis in January.

The Belgian has been training with the Chelsea first team this week.

Following an impressive year-long loan spell with Real Betis, the Belgian starlet has attracted interest from a number of clubs.

Celtic were reportedly lining up a £5million deal for the 20-year-old, but Conte’s decision to hand him a shirt number might just quash these rumours.

The Premier League have given permission for the Belgian youngster to use ‘Musonda Jr’ on his shirt this season to avoid any confusion with his father.

Musonda has recently returned to west London to train with the Chelsea first-team at Cobham.

Last term’s Premier League champions kick-off their pre-season on July, 22 against Arsenal.

The attacking midfielder oozes confidence both on and off the field, previously labelling himself to become a legend in his career.

Antonio Conte will be looking to promote the youngster into first team football next term.

Musonda said, “I was a late starter in my career.

“For example Eden Hazard was already in the first team when he was 16 and I was nowhere near that.

“I feel I have learned a lot at Chelsea and I am ready for any league in the world. I have never regretted signing for Chelsea,” he adds.

The Belgian U20 international was a product of the Anderlecht academy, before joining the Premier League giants in 2012 along with his two older brothers.

In early 2016, Musonda joined La Liga side Real Betis on a loan deal until the end of the season.

After only managing one start in eight appearances under the management of Gus Poyet during the deal, the Belgian returned to Stamford Bridge.

Borussia Dortmund eyeing Olivier Giroud as replacement for Chelsea-bound Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
GOSSIP
Metro Sport Reporter for Metro.co.ukWednesday 12 Jul 2017 6:50 pm

Borussia Dortmund are preparing a bid for Arsenal star Olivier Giroud as they look to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer.

Giroud has scored 98 goals in 226 appearances for the Gunners since his debut back in 2012 but the 30-year-old striker is being heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
The Daily Mirror claim that, with Aubameyang set for a switch to Chelsea in the coming months, Giroud is being eyed as a potential replacement by the Bundesliga giants.
It’s understood Aubameyang has been offered to Antonio Conte this summer for a fee of around £65million.

Speaking at Arsenal’s new kit launch in Sydney on Wednesday, Giroud admitted that leaving the club is a real possibility.
He said: ‘It (leaving) is an option to be honest with you.

‘I’m here in pre-season, I wanted to travel. Some people asked me if I am going to travel or not. I am an Arsenal player and for the moment I am here. I just want to prepare well for the season and we will see later.
‘But it is true that I really enjoyed my five years with Arsenal. I try to be professional. No matter what happens, I did my job on the pitch.’

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang posts Instagram message from private jet amid Chelsea transfer links
Metro Sport Reporter for Metro.co.ukWednesday 12 Jul 2017 6:15 pm

Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has teased Chelsea that he could be on his way to Stamford Bridge with a cheeky post on Instagram.

The Gabon international is believed to be available for around £60 million, with Dortmund willing to sell if their valuation is met before the start of the season.
He is also being targeted by AC Milan and has offers from China, with Tianjin Quanjian reportedly prepared to offer him a record-breaking salary.

But Chelsea have now emerged as leading candidates for his signature, and Aubameyang posted a picture of himself apparently preparing to jet out on Wednesday.

Even more intriguingly, he captioned the photo with the hashtag ‘#moodoftheday’, which some Chelsea fans believe is linked to his choice of attire.
The 28-year-old was wearing practically all blue – a colour synonymous with the west London club – donning royal blue trainers, a jacket, t-shirt and hat.

Aubameyang’s potential flight does pose several questions, especially given that he should be training with the Dortmund squad.
He took part in their first pre-season friendly of the summer against Rot-Weiss Essen, netting the first goal of new manager Peter Bosz’s reign in charge.

They face Urawa Reds in Saitama, Japan, on Saturday, and it had been suggested that Dortmund had instructed Aubameyang advisors to find him a new club before BVB jetted out to the Far East for the next leg of their pre-season preparations.
Aubameyang scored 31 goals last season, edging out Robert Lewandowski to the Bundesliga golden boot, and also netted seven times in just nine Champions League appearances.

Chelsea ready to pay release clause of Barcelona star Sergi Roberto - report

CHELSEA are reportedly keen to sign Barcelona star Sergi Roberto, and are willing to pay his £37.5million transfer fee.

By JACK OTWAY
PUBLISHED: 23:19, Mon, Jul 24, 2017 | UPDATED: 23:28, Mon, Jul 24, 2017

Chelsea have already had a busy transfer window despite winning the Premier League title by eight points last season.

The Blues moved quickly to land Antonio Rudiger and Willy Caballero from Roma and Manchester City respectively.

And they have further boosted their squad this month by landing Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid and Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco.

However, Antonio Conte wants a full-back to provide competition for Victor Moses on the right flank.

He was originally keen to raid Real Madrid for Danilo but the Brazil international instead opted to join Manchester City.

And journalist Spanish journalist Jose Luis Carazo has claimed Chelsea are in for Roberto and willing to pay £37.5m to get the deal done.

“Chelsea is willing to sign Sergi Roberto and even pay the clause of withdrawal amounting to 40 million,” he said.

Roberto started his career as a central midfielder but Barcelona opted to play him at right-back last season.

However, the arrival of Nelson Semedo from Benfica means an exit is not to be ruled out.

Chelsea could sign Barcelona star Sergi Roberto.

Antonio Conte wants Chelsea to sign a full-back this summer
Blues boss Antonio Conte, speaking yesterday, admitted more reinforcements were needed.

“We need to improve the quality and improve the squad because next season will be very tough for us,” he said.

“We are 16 players, without the goalkeepers, and to face four competitions in a good way we need more players.

“I have spoken with the club, they know this situation very well and we are trying to find the right solution.”

Chelsea Transfer News: Latest Sergi Roberto, Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla Rumours
ROB BLANCHETTE
JULY 25, 2017

Chelsea are ready to activate the release clause of Barcelona's Sergi Roberto as they strengthen their defensive options, according to reports.

Spanish newspaper Sport (h/t Joe Miles of The Sun) reported the Premier League champions will force Barca to sell the talented 25-year-old by matching the £37.5 million release fee in his current contract. The Camp Nou giants would then be powerless to stop the utility player moving to west London.

The Spain international can play in midfield and defence and would offer cover across several positions and roles for Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.

Roberto featured 40 times for his team in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League last term, according to WhoScored.com.

He has developed into one of Barca's most reliable talents, coming through the club's fabled youth system.

Chelsea must swell their numbers because of increased games next season as they defend their English title whilst venturing around Europe.

In other Blues news, Chelsea are scouting MLS talent Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla after Blues legend Didier Drogba highlighted his progress to the club.

According to Peter O'Rourke of ESPN FC (h/t Joel Watson of the Daily Star), the youngster has excelled for Montreal Impact, but Red Bull Salzburg are weighing up a bid for the 18-year-old prodigy.

The teenager has already played 18 games in the American league, per Watson, and he is becoming feared on the wing as he's able to play on both flanks.

Tabla would be little use to Chelsea at present, and he needs plenty of development before jumping to the big leagues.

The Blues have a myriad of talented youngsters at Cobham, and Tabla would be immediately loaned out if Chelsea decide to offer him a deal.

Roberto has impressed for Barca in the past 12 months, but he has creases to iron out if he wants to play in England.

The player fits Conte's favoured tactics, but the physical nature of the Premier League could challenge how successful he is.

Chelsea to back Antonio Conte in £250million spending spree on four potential signings

Antonio Conte wants to make at least four signings before the start of the new season

By John Percy
24 JULY 2017 • 10:30 PM
Antonio Conte is targeting four more signings as Chelsea prepare to back their manager with a budget which could top £250 million.

Conte is to rival Manchester City in the summer spending stakes as he moves to strengthen the Premier League champions with Alex Sandro, Antonio Candreva, Fernando Llorente and Virgil van Dijk.

Sandro, the Juventus left-back, is high on Conte’s list of targets and though negotiations have proved difficult, Chelsea are optimistic about a £60 million deal for the Brazilian.

Chelsea are also stepping up their interest in Candreva, the Inter Milan winger, while Swansea’s Llorente is seen as a realistic option for Conte’s depleted attack.

Van Dijk, the Southampton defender, is understood to not be a top priority at this stage but Chelsea are continuing to monitor the situation and could make a bid before the transfer window closes.

The Dutch centre-half has been left out of Southampton’s 25-man squad for a training camp in France this week and made it clear he wants to leave St Mary’s.

Chelsea have already forked out £130 million on four players, including record signing Alvaro Morata, and assured Conte they would back him with substantial funds when he signed a new two-year contract.

Manchester City are the biggest spenders by some distance this summer, paying an estimated £230 million as Pep Guardiola revamps his squad at the Etihad.

Conte insisted last week, during the pre-season tour of Asia, that Chelsea urgently needed more players. The Italian will intensify his attempts to bring in fresh faces this month.

His squad has been depleted by the departures of former captain John Terry, Nathan Ake and Nathaniel Chalobah, while last season’s leading scorer, Diego Costa, and midfielder Nemanja Matic are expected to be sold. Kurt Zouma, the French centre-back, has also been sent out on loan to Stoke City.

Who are Chelsea's transfer targets?
QUOTE
Alex Sandro
Age: 26
Club: Juventus
Position: Left-back
Country: Brazil
Caps: 7
Likely cost: £60m
Sandro is a fast, attack-minded defender who will offer options to Chelsea if they choose to stick with three at the back. Juventus are offering him a new contract but Chelsea are confident of striking a deal.

Antonio Candreva
Age: 30
Club: Inter Milan
Position: Midfield/ winger
Country: Italy
Caps: 47
Likely cost: £27m
Candreva is highly admired by Conte from his time in Serie A with Juventus and is seen as a player tailor-made for the Premier League. On Monday Conte said Candreva is a player he has "great respect for".

Fernando Llorente
Age: 32
Club: Swansea
Position: Striker
Country: Spain
Caps: 24
Likely cost: £22m
Llorente won the Serie A title under Conte at Juventus and came close to joining Chelsea in January. Swansea will be reluctant to sell but Conte believes the striker will add a different dimension to his team.

Virgil van Dijk
Age: 26
Club: Southampton
Position: Defender
Country: Netherlands
Caps: 12
Likely cost: £70m
Van Dijk has told Southampton he wants to leave and will not be travelling for the club's training camp in France. Chelsea are prioritising other positions but are still monitoring the centre half's situation.

After winning the league by seven points, Chelsea are desperate to avoid a repeat of two years ago when they endured a miserable title defence, eventually finishing 10th. Jose Mourinho, the manager, was sacked in December 2015 after nine defeats from 16 league games.

Cesar Azpilicueta, the defender, said: “After being champions three years ago, we had a terrible season and we have to learn from this. We know that, after being champions, every team we are going to face is going to want to win more than before.

“We know it will be harder but it is what we are working on in pre-season, to get into the best condition to fight for it and also in the Champions League as well. We have a big season ahead of us.”

Chelsea will continue their pre-season preparations when they face Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup on Tuesday.

Morata, the £58 million buy, is expected to play some part after flying in on Sunday. Antonio Rudiger, the defender signed from Roma this month, will join up with the squad today

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte believes he can turn Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain into a world-class wing-back
GOSSIP
Metro Sport Reporter for Metro.co.ukMonday 31 Jul 2017 11:50 pm

Antonio Conte believes he can help Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain become a world-class wing-back at Chelsea, reports say.
The Blues boss expressed interest in the England international earlier in the summer, with Oxlade-Chamberlain rejecting an offer to extend his contract at the Emirates.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are also keeping tabs on the situation as Oxlade-Chamberlain enters the final year of his contract in north London.
The 23-year-old was said to be growing frustrated during the 2016-17 campaign after only starting 16 Premier League games and was coming around to the idea of sealing a summer switch.
According to the Daily Express, Conte’s interest stems from his belief in turning Oxlade-Chamberlain into a top class wing-back.

Despite starting his career at Arsenal as an attacking midfielder, the former Southampton star took on the role several times last season and impressed Conte.

The Italian boss is looking to bolster his options in the wing-back position and is also keeping a close eye on Juventus’ Alex Sandro and former Blue Ryan Bertrand.

The Premier League champions were willing to spend over £60million on Italian Sandro, but Massimiliano Allegri said on Monday that he would be staying put.

‘Alex is a Juve player,’ Allegri said during Juventus’ pre-season tour of America. ‘He is sensational and he will not leave.’

ANTONIO CONTE says Chelsea are discussing potential transfers day in, day out.

By Marc Williams / Published 28th July 2017

The reigning Premier League champions have stepped up their business in recent weeks after a frustrating start to the transfer window.

The Blues have spent big on Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata and are determined to secure more mega-money deals.

Conte said: "With the club we speak every day about the way to strengthen this team and the squad.

"The club knows very well which is my idea and where are the positions to strengthen, and if this is possible, it is okay. If not, we continue this way.

"It's normal for every big team to try and reinforce its squad, to improve in the numerical aspect and to improve the quality. I think this is normal.

"For sure, in England next season, it will be a great challenge for all the teams."

Chelsea are currently being linked with a host of targets as they seek to bring more new faces to Stamford Bridge.

Conte is said to be keen on Everton's Ross Barkley, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain of Arsenal and Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches among other targets.

The Italian chief wants his club to get deals done as soon as possible so he can work with them before the new Premier League season kicks off.

He said: "It's very important to have the players work with me and understand my idea of football.

"Bakayoko, for example, doesn’t know anything about my idea of football and he will need a bit of time to adapt and understand.

"This is the great difficulty for a coach who has an idea of football and wants to give the team an identity. It’s the same now for Morata and Rudiger.

"If the player arrives as soon as possible it’s easier for me."

Marcos Alonso hints Chelsea could replace 3-4-3 formation next season
MARCOS ALONSO says Chelsea could deploy a new formation next season, despite the success of the 3-4-3 last season.

By Joel Watson / Published 28th July 2017

Antonio Conte adopted the attacking formation early in the 2016/17 campaign after the Blues were slow to get out of the blocks.

Following the change, Chelsea went on a winning run that lasted from early October until January and ultimately clinched the Premier League title with ease.

But despite its effectiveness, Alonso says Chelsea are preparing new tactics to keep themselves at the top of English top flight next season.

“We are working on new things this year to improve as a team,” he explained.

“[It was] not only Chelsea [that used this system]. It’s an old Italian system that worked very well last year.

“It’s normal that other teams are trying to play like this, depending on the players you have. It’s good to play in different ways.

“Football forgets everything very quick. It’s already time to think about the next season and do better than last year.”

Alonso was one of the main beneficiaries of the 3-4-3 last season as he made the left wing-back role his own and became a regular in the first team.

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Juventus star Alex Sandro to provide competition for Alonso in the back line.

But the Spaniard is not phased by the prospect of competition.

“I will just keep training, keep improving, keep doing well for the team and keep fighting [if Chelsea sign another full-back],” he added.

“This is Chelsea. We play in four competitions this year, so many games and competition can only be good for me and for the team.”

CHELSEA TRANSFER NEWS LIVE UPDATES: All the latest from Stamford Bridge…

Wednesday 2 August

Diego Costa to stay

23:00: Chelsea striker Diego Costa looks set to stay after he rejected a move to AC Milan.

The Sun say he wants to return to Atletico Madrid and has no interest in joining the Italian giants.

Antonio Conte told Costa he was surplus to requirements back in June.

Chelsea target Sanches to Liverpool

17:36: Renato Sanches could sign for Liverpool this summer, according to pundit Paul Mariner.

The 19-year-old had been linked with Chelsea but they’ve subsequently moved for Tiemoue Bakayako.

And that’s left former Arsenal star Mariner believing a move to Anfield is on the cards.

On a move to the Bridge, Mariner told ESPN FC: “No, not yet, I don’t think so. I think it would be a bit too much for him.

“I think if he goes to Chelsea he just goes into the rotation. That’s not what he wants.

“He’s a fantastic player this kid, a young player, a sensational player. I think that he may end up at Liverpool.”

Pasalic loan deal

16.15: Mario Pasalic has signed a new four-year deal and been sent on loan to Spartak Moscow for the season.

The Croatian midfielder joined the Blues in 2014 and featured in the pre-season friendly games against Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.

He has been sent to the Russian champions to gain valuable Champions League experience.

The 22-year-old is yet to make a competitive appearance for the Blues.

Candreva agreement close

13:55: Antonio Candreva has almost agreed a move to Chelsea, according to reports.

Candreva and Antonio Cone know each other well from their time working together at international level.

And according to TransferMarketWeb, Candreva is on the verge of reaching an agreement with Chelsea.

Candreva is now apparently ready to leave Inter Milan after just one season at the San Siro.

But Chelsea must first agree a deal with Inter before sealing his arrival, and it is added the 30-year-old could cost as much as £38m.

Chelsea won't pay £30m for Drinkwater

12:50: Chelsea have informed Leicester they won't pay more than £30million for Danny Drinkwater.

The Sun claim Chelsea will not fork out that much and have told Leicester of their views.

They say Drinkwater is excited by the opportunity to work under Conte at the home of the champions but the Foxes hold all the cards over his future.

Chelsea stronger on Barkley

11:25: Chelsea are now prioritising a move for Ross Barkley after putting the Everton playmaker high on their list of targets.

Homegrown players are being eyed to help the Blues reach their quota.

And according to the Liverpool Echo, Chelsea have now emerged as serious contenders for Barkley.

Tottenham have been frontrunners, but the Liverpool Echo adds they now face competition from London rivals Chelsea with Conte keen to add Barkley to his midfield options.

With Nemanja Matic having now departed for Manchester United in a deal worth £40million, Chelsea need cover.

Chelsea have emerged as serious contenders for Ross Barkley's signature.

The Liverpool Echo report that Chelsea's need for more home-grown players as lead them to target Barkley.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has insisted the 23-year-old, who is also a target for Tottenham, will '100 per cent' leave Goodison Park this summer.

The Toffees want £50m for the England star, despite him having less than 12 months left to run on his contract.

Chelsea Transfer News: Antonio Candreva Boost Reported, Latest Blues Rumours
MATT JONES
AUGUST 2, 2017

Chelsea have reportedly been handed renewed hope in their pursuit of Inter Milan winger Antonio Candreva.

According to Adrian Kajumba of the Daily Mirror, Inter are hopeful of landing Keita Balde Diao from Lazio in the current window, and should he arrive, it would push Candreva closer to the exit door.

"Blues boss Antonio Conte has revived his interest in the £23 million-rated Italy international, who he worked with while he was in charge of the national team," Kajumba wrote. "He initially tried to bring the 30 year-old to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window."

According to Kajumba, Conte wants to bring in another player who can fill in in the right wing-back role. Victor Moses shone in the position last season, and without the Nigeria international, the Blues lack thrust on that flank.

Candreva would be able to step into that position, although throughout his career he's been better suited to a more advanced berth.

As noted by Squawka Football, Candreva was among the most creative players in Serie A last season despite Inter's troubles:

Ban no ban... yes we dislike Everton style so demanding money recently. But what to do, they hold the cards for homegrown player, and homegrown player tend to attract big money. However they miss the free-Bosman-transfer card later.

I not really agree we sell right now. Anyway Hazard is injured, Barca will not come. I read somewhere in Liverpool thread, they may go for Coutinho. Good luck with that brows.gif

3 red cards and we do not have much substitute bench impact players to choose from... How do we afford to change strategy in midgame? Suspensions, now 3 red cards, yellow card also coming up. And we still have Hazard and Bakoyoko injuries dry.gif

Wait, Conte purposely lost the match to make a statement to board to sign more players. Right right? laugh.gif hmm.gif

TLDR:
-£25m bid for Valencia full-back Joao Cancelo
-increase their offer for Leicester’s England midfielder Danny Drinkwater to £25m in the next 24 hours
-are ready to offer £30m for Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
-more than £50m for Southampton centre-back Virgil Van Dijk

Chelsea grant Antonio Conte his transfer wish: £130m spree will commence to appease boss

CHELSEA are ready to spend £130million before the end of the transfer window to try to keep manager Antonio Conte happy.

By TONY BANKS
PUBLISHED: 00:21, Mon, Aug 14, 2017 | UPDATED: 00:21, Mon, Aug 14, 2017

The Premier League champions had a disastrous start to the defence of their title on Saturday as they crashed 3-2 at home to Burnley and had two men sent off.

Conte, who has repeatedly said he needs more players, has been promised three more by owner Roman Abramovich before the deadline on August 31.

“We have a small squad… Everyone can see the situation, not because the coach shouts, ‘I want this’, or, ‘I want this’," he said.

"The situation is very clear. We are trying to improve the situation but, for me and for my players, the best way now is to be focused on the pitch, to work, to try to improve and don't think of the other situation.

"But, for sure, we hope, in the future, to improve this situation because you can see.”

Chelsea have made a £25m bid for Valencia full-back Joao Cancelo, will increase their offer for Leicester’s England midfielder Danny Drinkwater to £25m in the next 24 hours, are ready to offer £30m for Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and more than £50m for Southampton centre-back Virgil Van Dijk.

Blues defender Cesar Azpilicueta backed his manager’s call for more quality reinforcements as he said: “When you see the players we lost, and the players we have signed in, they are not the same.”

Chelsea have already spent some £130m on four new players this summer, and are ready to bring new £40m midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko into their squad for the crunch clash with Tottenham at Wembley on Sunday.

The France midfielder has been recovering from an ankle injury but has returned to full training, and such is the lack of numbers that he could be rushed back.

Chelsea will be without skipper Gary Cahill and midfielder Cesc Fabregas, both banned after being sent off against Burnley.

Victor Moses will return after suspension, and Chelsea expect striker Pedro to have recovered from an ankle problem.

and we seems to forgot. where is loic remy and baba rahman?

Hope Conte use them... we certainly could use some players, promote youth maybe icon_idea.gif

But from experience, we been selling youth and then buy them back at expensive price later dry.gif

Consolation, Morata scored as sub. He need work more on his fitness, then he can become starter.

And what is going on with Batshuayi? Thought he would take this good chance to prove himself as a first choice striker bangwall.gif

Striker is a toss up between Morata and Batman it seems laugh.gif

Midfield we running thinly. Suspension, injuries, and whole season targets are difficult to achieve. And with CL games coming up, we cannot afford to risk a thin squad~~ shakehead.gif

If Hazard goes to Real, Real trades with Gareth Bale.
