selset i think is reliable..
selset handles many Government Scholaship to nz mostly..
like JPA if i'm right, and also my scholar.
ask Carol Tham if u go to selset.. hahha she's kinnda bersemangat with us last time..

r u going to this college??
http://www.ipc.ac.nz/index.php ???

when r u gonna arrive here?? u r going to pammy eyh (Palmerston) ??
depends on weather.. like me, i arrived around summer.. so just bring thick cloth.. then for winter, just wait for discount here.. coz winter clotch gonna take space in ur luggage.. if u r into shopping,, bring lotsa money rclxms.gif
and if u r into cooking.. dont forget to bring perencah from msia. my group, they didnt bother about the perencah.. sweat.gif so. the girls brought over many perencah.. just for start  if u have to cook by ur own self.. bcoz i'm muslim.. cant buy frozen food at the supermarket and also instant food..
bring also ur favourite stationaries. unless u got losta money.. haha
i brought a dozen of pen, eraser, ruler, pencil, pencil lead etc.. bcoz schola not that big  cry.gif so hav to buy from msia if got the chance.. sweat.gif
regret didnt bring my paper file..
and also my Serway text book.. sweat.gif

huhu im new here in nz.. emperormeng and the others can explain more.. notworthy.gif
*
yeah..im with Carol Tham too.. i like her a lot..
and yup,im going to that IPC..aaahhh,waiting is sucks..i wanna go now! haha.
i just got called from Selset yesterday evening and they say that i got the scholarship.
but they are not confirm yet what is the actual day i'll be leaving..
from what i've read in IPC website..the orientation will be on 8th of April..
but last time, i went to see Michael at Selset, he told me that the person who will accompany us there will be going on 14th of April..but then,i asked Selset again yesterday..they will confirm it ASAP
now they are preparing my visas.. icon_rolleyes.gif
yay! im going there... yay! yahuuuuuuuuu.... rclxm9.gif

and yeah,im into shopping..but i think,when i arrive there,i have to control myself and set my budget..haha!
at IPC they serve meal..where we also have lots of dishes like msia, thai, sushi food..yummy! thumbup.gif
but im not sure whether its halal or not..im a muslim too.
i'll be stay in the residence cllge, but there is no kitchen or place to cook..
but,is it hard to find halal food outside?

uummm, and thanks for remind me the stationary..i'll prepare for a year stationary,,haha!

If you're worried, how about contacting IPC directly. Surely they'll be able to tell you whether your have a guaranteed place on scholarship. If the College says yes, you're all set.
*
thanks a lot..yeah,my dad suggested that to me too..
i'll mail to them immediately to confirm it.. smile.gif

As I've said in the past, I'm not a big fan of agents. But since you ended up with ascholarship (lucky you), the best way would be to get in touch with IPC directly. That information can be easily found on their webpage. IPC eh? You'll be next to Massey Uni (nice place), and from what I've heard, quite a bit of Japanese there.

<EdLiNa>, what are you studying?

While bringing perencah (spices) over might be a good idea, remember that NZ has strict quarantine  laws, so dont be surprised if you cant bring in some stuff. And yes, if weight limit permitting, bring along the small stuff like pens, pencils, pencil lead, files etc frm M'sia, as they are a bit dearer in NZ thanks to the currency exchange. Don't bring over bulky stuff like paper through: its affordable here!
In other news, I've discovered the best way of staying warm(er) in Auckland: live in an apartment with 5 floors above you!
*
haha! that s great..
im going to take English for my major..
will be a year in foundation but regarding the person who interviewed me,i can cut it to 6month only..
then take a degree for about 2 or 3 years..depends on my result then.
yah~ IPC is more to Japanese life you know..
bcoz the principal is from Japan, and they suggest us to take Japan..which i really love it!! rclxm9.gif
maybe if im doing good in my foundation year, i'll go to massey uni..
yes! i'll study really2 good this time...hmmmm

perencah aa?? i should think about it wisely..haha!
but is all the stuff there are expensive?
how about the clothes? is the price reasonable?
what do you suggest me to bring this April..? is it enough if i just bring 2 coat/sweater like really for this kind of weather..and others i just buy there..

Not so much halal food outside. Mainly some turkish/middle eastern stuff. Most Malaysian food is not halal cos the places are owned/run by Chinese and Indians. There are a few halal ones but there's limited choice. I'm speaking for Auckland here, not sure how things are like in Palmy.

Perencah - if you intend to do cooking, bring some along. While NZ customs laws are strict, most of perencah will get through. I've said it before, as a rule of thumb, if you avoid bringing in meat, dairy products, fresh fruits and vegetables, you'll be fine.

Clothes - there's very limited choice in NZ and it's definitely not cheap. I recommend that you bring clothes from Malaysia. The only things you should buy here are warm clothing. Since you're coming in April, just bring a couple of sweaters and a jacket and you should be fine. Btw those sports windbreakers etc don't count as jackets but they are useful if waterproof.
*
FOOD = yay! so i have to bring lots of mee maggie..haha! rolleyes.gif
i'll discuss with my mother then about what to bring there..from what i know, there is a mini market nearby our residence..they have all the keropok and biscuits msia..like julies etc..i hope i can live with that..huu~

CLOTHES - new zealand is really windy huh? so how bout winter holiday? is thre lots of snow falling down (betul ke ayat ni??) i mean, we can make snow man and freezing like crazy..what is the temperature around Palmy during winter?

and, is there lots of Malay students study there? y'know..when it comes to Hari Raya..we can't go back home..
so just play the 'bunga api' together with the others student..haha! biggrin.gif

i can eat those frozen fish fillet..but,referring the chinese and indian restaraunt..
yah,we can eat seafood and vege stuff..but how bout 'kuali' that they used before (??)

Don't need to bring stuff like biscuits lah. Plenty over here.

It doesn't normally snow in Palmy or anywhere in the North Island (apart from the mountains).

There's quite a few Malay students in NZ... mostly on MARA or JPA scholarships. There's also a few Malay migrant families around.
Speaking from experience, it's not just perencah that you can bring in. If you know what you're doing, there's plenty of food that they customs will let through.
*

[/quote]

emm..then i have to bring some of my fave dishes..
i guess, i'll be a great chef over there! biggrin.gif

there is no snow in Palmy?? ahhhhh...better find some good place to make my first snowman..huhu laugh.gif

RUGBY pleas, not American football. Kiwis think American football is a game for wimps since they have all that protective padding and helmets.

The Super 14 (professional league across 3 countries - NA, Aus, S. Africa) has already started. When that ends, there's the NPC which is a local provincial tournament.

Aside from that, there's also rugby league. It's a sport very similar to rugby but with some different rules. NZ's Vodafone Warriors play in Australia's NRL.
*
is it rugby? not american football aa?
wait..really? emm..whatever..
i play american football before when i was in form 5 at my tuition centre, but w/out the protective ok..haha!

emm..im going to buy that ticket then.. huhu flex.gif

that is called a socialised welfare state........you tax money is not wasted but goes into public services which you enjoy for free or minimal charge, eg healthcare, education, libraries, subsidised public transport, old age pension, unemployment benefits etc........

you will understand all this next time when your children grows up into uni, and when you grow old and need medical care..........

but it is a concept probably foreign to some segments of msian society who are used to enjoy these perks without the need to pay high taxes........

or you prefer to be tax moderately highly, have you tax money wasted by politicians on useless projects or bailing out failing business ventures or just plain old 'leakages', need to spend a fortune on private education for your children, and go bankrupt when you fall sick, like in some countries........
*
ok..now i understand..it just like singapore..
they have to pay tax higher bcoz it s for the facilities and all..
that s why singapore is really clean and well-regulated..
i see.. nod.gif

haha! tht's really clear..
why Msia government didn't do that?
then we can have a really nice environment just like other countries..

and is that why other countries currency are higher than Msia??
because of the taxes?

The Hurricanes are a Wellington-based rugby team. Since you're going to Palmy, they'll be your local Super 14 team.

As for moisturiser, you can buy it here lah. You're already going to have lots of stuff you need to bring over without adding something else.
*
you mean, buy it there? in NZ? haha!

wow! Hurricanes huh..cool!
when will it be?

It's Good Friday dear - that means it's a public holiday.

Your skin WILL be dry. Moisturiser is a must, especially for people like us whose skins are accustomed to hot and humid Malaysia.

Vic is in Wellington.

ohh yah..i forgot..
i heard from Selset that today is Easter Day..
yes yes!

maybe just bring my own moisturizer..
if it's nnot suitable there,i just buy another one..
