Can someone explain the new weapon upgrade system? Is there an English guide?

What weapon upgrade you referring to? If is the new memory shinki, only can be upgrade using rainbow crystal or rosetta stone. Rainbow crystal can only be obtain by transmuting weapon or armor

To obtain 1 rainbow crystal, it will required 2k points from gear transmuting
1~4* gears (doesnt matter ++ or what) ~ 1 unit 400 points
5* gear ~ 1 unit 3k points, if augmented before using rosetta, 1 augment point add 1k more points
6* gear ~ 1 unit 7.5k points, if augmented before using rosetta, 1 augment point add 3k more points
rosetta stone ~ 1 unit 1k points

To max memory shinki to lvl50, total rainbow crystals required is 60

Seems like can assume this fes gear would be focus on the 3 new char, Dr mog, Wedge & Biggs

Right...eventhough the stats are seriously good, but there is no SB in them. But at least got duplicate weapons can throw it here.

This has nothing to do with sb, memory shinki is the solution the dev provide to those which complain on no 6* dark matter to evolve their 6*++. Memory shink advantages is higher attack stats, plus under sync condition it provides element boost to all element, which even including non element. Just that obtaining the required rainbow crystal can be a tedious job unless you spend rosetta on it

well, I had some pretty useless 5 star items, so I managed to level Cloud's ultima weapon to level 24.

Weapon level or combination wont effect much on the points gains as its fixed as I listed earlier, its the augmentation on the gears using rosetta stone which provide higher points. Since rosetta is a limited assets, spending it or not will depends on your own decision lor
