i just switched to X-Perl a week ago. Haven't seen that thing in the middle of your screen before. Is it the combat log?

also, is your x-perl version 2.20a? there's an options button on the minimap now but i don't see it in your version. it's located at where your RA button currently is. move your RA button for a bit and see if it appears. then check the options.
