Hi,

I am a first time property buyer and wish to get some information.

I am currently interested in purchasing a unit (level 18 unit 6) and my friend is interested to purchase another unit same floor ( level 18 unit 5).

However, there's a pump/water tank situated on level 19 and level 20 (unit 7 & 8).

The whole block has about 195 units and about 35 floors and residential units starts from level 8.

Is it advisable to the the level 18 units since the water pump is just one level above? But is not directly above thou.

Other than possibility of noise affecting the floor below, there should be no issue.

However standard practice is to provide isolation spring to reduce vibration (noise) from the pump.

Normally should have 2 pumps inside, fire fighting and domestic usage.

Domestic usage pump, runs more often but less noise.

Fire fighting seldom run, but noisier.

Building more than 20 floors may have additional pump and tanks at middle floor.

Domestic water pump is less noisy, also they will not run if no one is using the water. Assuming less people using water during late night, the chances of the pump running late night (affecting your sleep) is much lesser.

thank you for your insight. But staying in a condo with 195 other units, there might be still a chance that other people taking midnight shower or midnight cleaning? lol

There is a tolerance (certain volume of water being used) before the middle pump is activated, this is to reduce the frequency of the pump turning on and off

my 2 cents, avoid near water pumps..imagine if leakage, possible units below it might be affected..so better upper / further as possible..and avoid top floor!

I live in top floor of the apartment (5-floor type) and my house water pressure is damn slow, I only able to use 1 tap at the time, meaning to say that, if you flushed toilet, then you have to wait before you can use the kitchen sink \ bath

You better go and test it out, open all the tap to test the pressure
