Those Bloomberg Asia Top 30 below 30 all came from rich families.

Are there anyone out there who made it big and successful without family help or coming from poor family (e.g. Poverty line income family)?

Most I see their household income at least RM10k and above some even RM100k to RM1m.

My friend challenge me to find an example of poorfag with poor family background making it big.

So far I can't think of any so need /k help me to repudiate his statement.

Please provide link as well.

Tak ada.

All of them rich successful kids are from rich successful family.

Poorfag mostly remains poorfag, very few will rise up to mediumfag.

Life is unfair, that's just how things work.

I think Thomas Piketty's Capital in the Twenty-First Century said that social mobility is largely a myth, that the rich stay rich and be even richer while the poor and middle class remains.

it depends on what your definition or rich is.

Most if not all the kids that are in large corp chasing their dreams come from a certain degree of wealth or skill, basically they are not people who need to fight hours of part time to pay off student debt.

There are those that dont come from wealth at all, they do become rather successful in the sense that they did manage to get out of poverty to a life of minor luxuries and comfort.

if you want to achieve those 1 billion companies , richest people in the nation kinda shit, its epic impossible, hence why these people are these people. they are a combination of timing, luck, and decisions made that give the unique outcome

Poor gets poorer and rich gets richer, that's how this system is built.

Out of 100 poor people, 0 can breakthrough to become rich. If 1000 people, maybe a few can become rich.

Often people hear success stories of how someone made it rags to riches, but on the contrary the statistics of the huge amount of people who failed never got attention.

Sheng siong singapore is founded by Lim family who have been in business for a very very long time - farms mainly, so they're not exactly poor, probably the family before the supermarket was already well off with their business.

I think the definition of rich "successful" young teenager have to be said as building up his/her own fortune without the help of their family
A lot of stories out there
1) Lebron James
2) Lee Hom
3) Oprah Winfrey
4) Teh Hong Piow
5) mark zuckerberg - his family is rich ? his family help him built facebook?
6) jack ma
.... still got a lot more, the logic behind that TS try to mention is probably the opportunity that young teenager that come from rich family to be rich is greater but remember, there is a lot of cases out there where 1 generation is enough to kill all the wealth that is built by their father or grandfather

many gold diggers successfully become rich though.

or how about george michael, poor Greek boy having earned 100 million pounds before his death.

or you heard about the crippled malaysian successfully building a chain retail store?

there are many poor folks did successful become very rich. but not many. because wealth is a pyramid, there are a lot fewer people can stay on top than those fill the bottom. if don't want pyramid must become communist.

thoroughout history those who already own the wealth always have an advantages over the poor. back in feudal time, sons and daughters of lords were also definitely better well off then those born as peasants. it is just how things work. it has never changed. usually it takes war or revolutions to really shake things up where most of the rich suddenly lost everything while many poor folks suddenly become the new ruling and elite class.

during peace time, such reversal of fortune can also happen but just on a much lesser scale. you want it to happen more then you need to become bad people to seduce rich son and daughter to take drug lah, gamble lah, become gay lah, mindlessly car racing lah etc so that bad things happen to them faster.

That is why it is largely, not completely.

For every one speedmart founder, there are 1 million more that failed and remained where they are.

If you look at the Top 100 list, most of them are from well well off background. And it is no surprise, because being wealthy affords one way more advantages than being poor. From upbringing to education to connections and access to capital, all that helps.

Bill Gates' parents was prominent lawyers and corp figures, Buffett's father was a US congressman, Bezos' own one of the largest lands in Texas, Koch brother's were wealthy, Bettencourt inherited L'Oreal from parents, Waltons ditto with Walmart, and so on so forth.

You will get your Jack Ma's, but at the same time, how many billions of Chinese did not became him?

Statistics doesn't point to one person and generalise it to all.

How many people do you know who are millionaires? as in betul2 have net liquid assets (NOT INCLUDING PROPERTY) of Rm 1 million?

it's hard enough to go from Rm 0 to Rm 1 million, in fact near impossible for 90% of people, yet you will never hear of them, because your idea of amazing success is that one must be a billionaire like Gates, Jobs, Zuckerberg, etc.

those guys are in the extreme minority, and even then it's partly because they went from 1 million (figuratively speaking, due to their connections) to 1,000 million.

you guys just focus on your 0 to 1 million lah... much more achievable.

The truth of this society is, if you are coming from a wealthy family background, no doubt you will start your life easier, and it would be even easier to success if you rajin belajar and entrepreneurial minded, the existing connections and financial support you family can give it to you would be much easier compared with an entrepreneur from a B40 background.

actually gamble is one of the best ways, but gambling with information... like investing in Bitcoin when it was USD0.0008 a unit.

still you need to make sure rich people fell first to make room for poorer people to reach the pyramid. otherwise you made 1 million in bitcoin, but those rich people made 10 millions, then cause big inflation and your 1 million feel like 100K only.

get them to gamble in online casino, best you run that online casino in secret, it will be like donation. brows.gif

Just mentioning....

I know someone from my primary school who is started by selling burger at roadside now own multiple stalls and a small factories on meat processing. He owns a few properties in PG. For me, he is quite successful and he is not from rich family because his parent live at low cost flat and we grow up there.

Good article that's very relevant to this thread.

Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, he was 19 years old when he wrote the whitepaper.

Now it's gearing up to dethrone the number one cryptocurrency, Bitcoin.

Easily a self made billionaire within a few years. How's that for entrepreneurship?

The age of opportunity has passed, unfortunately. Systems have been well established unlike mid 20th century where many people seized the chances to make heredity fortune.

He's not under 30 also.

Definitely Mr Lee works his business successfully from scratch but it takes time over the years.

That's why TS raised the discussion about very young ppl who got it big under 30 are mostly already rich in the first place.
