After only 12000 km, saw this while pumping air. Will pull the screw out tomorrow and check for any leak. Read that it's not repairable but for those with experience, will the shop accept for trade in?

Plan on replacing a pair and use the good one as spare.

You'll be pressing your luck if they accept a patched tire, furthermore 1 that had a puncture on the shoulder.

My last set that was traded in had a tire with a plug, and the shop refused to take it as a trade in.

You can still try patch it in, may or may not last long. If the pressure often drops again then no choice but to replace. Most likely shops will not accept as trade in for that one.

Hmm.. There's this talk about tyre integrity once a puncture happen on the shoulder or side wall. So kinda unsure. Will see what our shop people say.

Since i patch myself tat time, i tot to myself.... since the hole constitute to only less den 1% of the surface area, there are still 99% structure holding it..... still safe kot... hahahaa

It's not so much about tire structural integrity but more about whether the puncture can be sealed properly and not leaking again. If puncture somewhere more at the middle then it's still ok coz it will always get pressured down to the tarmac and sealed properly. But if it's on the side, it might not get such pressure but it might instead got flexed, hence can leak again. I've also experienced similar puncture like that and it only able to hold for around a few months before it leaked again, so no choice but to change the tire. Actually there's another better method of repairing tire puncture where the put a section of rubber from the inside and then pressed it until it blends into the tire compound hence very strong bonding. With this method surely can still fix such puncture but I don't know anymore where can do it here in Malaysia.

Most Michelin authorised dealer do tht. Apparently, they are not recommended by their principal to do normal 'cacing' patch.

Kee Hin Tyre at old klang road does the inside patch for RM 10 RM 15 (excl balancing). Recommened to balance as tyre is removed for patching.

Yes correct, need to do re-balancing as the tire needs to be dismantled from the rim.
Ok good to know that, thx for the info! thumbsup.gif

Thanks for the replies

Update: pulled the screw out and squirt some soap water to it. Tiny bubbles started forming. Brought it to the shop and said can be patched. RM6 for a rubber cacing.
