I want to buy something via eBay and required PayPal as payment by using CIMB debit card. It only got stuck at PayPal checkout page saying "Sorry, your bank wasn't able to verify your MASTERCARD at this time. Please choose another way to pay"

Called CIMB CS about paypal and she basically saying I have to enable online transaction and I did.

Try again with paypal but still can not make any payment.

Is CIMB blocking paypal in any way? My last transaction with paypal was last week with no problem


UPDATE:Called CIMB again and they said they're blocked PayPal indefinitely.

based from my experience when i spoke to them before, cimb debit only can be use for local purchases, unlike maybank debit can be use for international purchases .

But i have stopped using debit card purchases for online for some time now.

They still can be use both int and local as debit card. Only paypal is blocked from CIMB

CIMB support Alipay, that's why they block PayPal. I use HLB now, Maybank cannot use debit after 12am.

Come Hong Leong Bank where visa debit can buy like a regular credit card.

I'm using my brother HLB but why they charge more? It supposed cost me RM280(according to paypal invoice) but they charge me for RM290 instead. Is RM10 for transaction fee?

For existing CIMB debit cards already linked to PayPal, no problem with the transactions, i.e not blocked. They just block those that are not linked yet. If im not mistaken maybank also takes similar approach. (i.e. new linking not allowed, while existing ones can carry on). Those already linked can use Payp as usual until the cards expire.

err..no. My card linked and verified with paypal since 2 years ago.

No idea then. Probably they start blocking existing users in stages.
